Merrill Gardens at West Chester

When it became clear that my 97 year old mother could no longer live alone, we did a lot of research and facility touring to find what we hoped would be a community where she felt welcome, supported and safe. Merrill Gardens seemed to check every box, so we moved her there this past fall. We obviously made the correct decision. From the beginning, all our interactions have been positive. Allyssa and Matt were great sources of information as we started the moving process, providing information about the accommodations and services offered and answering our myriad of questions. Shireen, the General Manger, was there on move-in day to go over all the paperwork and officially welcome Mom to her new home. Mom has now settled in and we remain very pleased with the facility (its cleanliness and amenities), the staff (their receptiveness, responsiveness and obvious concern for the well-being of the residents) and its sense of community. Jillian, the Resident Care Director, has been most helpful. She met us on the first day to evaluate Mom’s care needs. Since then, she has overseen Mom’s medical care (which has changed during her short time at Merrill Gardens), keeping us informed and continually in the loop. Jillian responds to emails and phone calls promptly and is someone with whom it is very easy to communicate. And her staff of nurses and aides are awesome. Malayna, the Senior Business Office Director, has also been a wonderful resource, helping us navigate this new world of assisted living, and long term care claims. She too is always ready with answers, either by phone or email. And the rest of the staff, from aides to the front desk folks, to maintenance and dining personnel, all appear care for the residents. If you’re seeking a welcoming community, Merrill Gardens is well worth a look.

I took my mom on a tour of Merrill Gardens the other day. What a fantastic facility full of friendly staff and residents! Alyssa Dolan was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable and pleasant helping to relieve any anxiety my mom was having about the visit. I was very impressed with the amenities such as a movie theater, diner, pub, library, garden patio, to name a few. Each area was beautiful, bright, and clean. My mom met many residents while touring and they were all welcoming and complimentary of their experiences at Merrill. I can’t say anything but good things and look forward to getting to spend more time in the future when Mom joins the community.

Both my parents resided in this community for a number of years and it was perfect for them. They had lots of friends and activities, they even got my mom to visit in Alpaca Farm. The staff is friendly, supportive and available. They provided my mom so much support when my dad was sick and finally passed away. My mom continued to reside in this community after my dad died and it was a blessing to her. Both are now gone but their lives were so much more enriched by being at Merrill Gardens. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a place for their parents. Thank you to the staff for all their support.

While looking for a place for my dad I visited a number of places but stopped looking when I visited Merrill Gardens. I met with Alyssa Dolan, their Community Relations Director, and she was wonderful at making me feel welcome and giving me a tour of everything Merrill Gardens has to offer, which is a lot! We had to get a bridge loan to get my dad in quickly and everyone from Alyssa to their corporate employees worked with me and the loan company to make things happen when they needed to. Perhaps the most important and satisfying thing is how much the employees care about the residents. They go above and beyond to make sure my dad is treated well and that I am informed of any changes with my dad’s health and well being. I would highly recommend visiting Merrill Gardens and meeting with Alyssa Dolan if you or a loved one are searching for an assisted living facility.
