What began as a wonderful wine dinner unexpectedly turned into a medical situation when a suture opened and I began bleeding. I initially tried to manage it myself, but the incredible team at The Marshes noticed immediately and stepped in without hesitation. The Executive Director, Food and Beverage Director, Security, and the nurse were all absolutely outstanding. Their calm professionalism, quick response, and genuine care took over seamlessly. They stopped the bleeding, ensured I was comfortable and safe, and handled the situation with a level of compassion and coordination that went far beyond what anyone could reasonably expect. Because of their attentiveness, I was able to rejoin my wife and friends and continue enjoying what was otherwise a fantastic evening. Their actions truly reflected exceptional service, care, and humanity—not just hospitality. An outstanding experience, not only for the food and wine, but for the people who make The Marshes such a special place. I highly recommend The Marshes of Skidaway Island.

My wife and I moved to The Marshes in April 2012, following our retirements. Our wish list was rapidly filled by The Marshes staff who introduces us to all of the magnificent facilities and options, all designed to make retirement living a pleasure. We are both volunteer facility leaders, my wife in Food and Beverage, myself in Operations, Logistics and Security. Almost all of our residents actively participate in their field of interest or training. Voluntary, but fun. Rather than going on about how great our home is, come and see for yourself why we still believe it was one of the most important, but finest decisions we ever made. If there was a 6 star review option, we'd likely be high up on the list of responders. All good fortune to you, Bill and Inez

We are celebrating our one year anniversary of moving into the Marshes. We can’t believe what a good decision it was to make the leap from living in a patio home at the Landings, to moving into an apartment at the Marshes. The support we received from the staff and other residents was unbelieveable! Making changes to the apartment that we signed up for, was seamless. Don Trahan, the Renovation Specialist, listened to our every need and was always available to show us samples of materials as well as other apartments that had been renovated. During the entire process, communication was ongoing and our questions were always responded to in a timely manner. The process could have been overwhelming, but when staff are professional and really care about you, the new resident, it’s an exciting time.

My mom moved into The Marshes about a year ago, and the place is fantastic! Her apartment is beautiful, fully updated and well-designed with a gorgeous view. There's a lovely little walk to the state park next door. The staff are friendly and professional & the residents are social. There's a nicer restaurant, a cafe, and a cute bar (!!) on the main floor, plus the food is great with plenty of options, so she hardly ever cooks anymore. When there was a health scare, it was a comfort to know that there's a nurse on staff and help with rides to appointments. I told her it feels like living in a resort full-time!
