I never ever expected to leave my home of 47 years. And then the walls started to close in and I couldn’t care for my beloved home as I used to. One night I entered the kitchen I knew so well. Bounced off the open dishwasher door, back to the kitchen table and landed on my outstretched arm re-injuring my right shoulder. My daughter is an emt. When she arrived said mom you can’t do this anymore. My hobby of looking around senior facilities took on a whole new reason. I entered the priority list with three facilities. But when I walked into Maris Grove it felt like home. I didn’t see one person sitting in a chair sleeping. Everyone looked active, happy and smiling. I moved June, 2025. Yes, it felt odd but three months in found myself singing in my apartment. I knew then I finally arrived. Looking back I recalled my friends saying you’re gonna know when it’s time. Sounds weird and I give thanks for those closed in walls and even the fall that resulted in a shoulder surgery. They helped to push my decision. Looking forward I give thanks every day for my new life filled with community, activities and a newfound appreciation for everything I have, a new appreciation and understanding of me. You’re going to hear people say, “Don’t wait.” I’m 79 years old and here to say it’s true. There is a better life waiting just for you. It certainly is for me.

You wouldn’t believe what they pull once a loved one passes on. I have pictures of my moms empty apartment and there are no white spots that where under where her pictures hung. They say the whole apartment needs to be gutted down to the studs.! Most ridiculous scam we have ever come across in our lives! They are saying it will cost $80 thousand dollars to redo her apartment. If it were not an retirement scam the whole apartment is not worth $80, thousand dollars. They are taking advantage of our deceased mother’s situation. Beware its not the nice place you would think it is. Its no different then living in a Sheraton hotel except its a lot more expensive. Once our parents were there for a year they knew they made a huge mistake! But Erickson makes you sign your life away!

My mother has been living at Maris Grove for 16 years. She has consistently enjoyed her living arrangements and we have been impressed with the high quality of service she has received. Executive Manager has been consistent and vigilant, especially during the pandemic. Mom always Says it was the best move she ever made. I agree.
