I had a family member live here for several years. It started out with nice staff, clean, organized activities then things started getting really bad with nurses quitting all the time because of pay, poor management. Then it became very difficult to ever find a nurse to give medications, help with bathroom, the really expensive food that was paid for was never brought in or staff would eat it or leave it in hallways for hours. Staff was constantly on cell phones in garden area while call lights from patients were buzzing. Rooms had mold, urine in carpet which they refused to clean so had to move my loved one to another room which had worse mold and holes in wall. They steal personal items even food in the fridge. I would bring groceries and they would be gone the next day. New clothes, books, bedding gone. My family member got severely injured because staff became aggressive in pushing him in wheelchair in a hurry and he fell out and we had to rush him to er. Broken toes, broken wrist and he was severely traumatized. I wanted to remove him but he passed away not long after the fall. That same night nurses and staff stole all his valuables even his clothes and plants.I would not trust this place at all. Very dangerous please do not put your loved ones in this facility. Looks great on the outside but very scary place for defenseless patients especially those who can’t walk. They leave them in their urine for hours. Horrible place. I’m replying to the response of La Vida Real which they say they don’t have records of the abuse and the incidents that took place. They refuse to be held accountable but any future residents please look into their history and research everything. Looks great on the outside but mistreatment on the inside. There was also mold infestation a year ago which would be on record. Look deep into their records and investigate before you have your loved one live there. It is simply not a safe or honest place.

On September 9, 2025, my daughter and I had a very thorough tour of La Vida Real with Cristina. This gorgeous property immediately reminded us of my hubby's favorite brunch place, Rancho Valencia Resort in Rancho Santa Fe. The exterior and interior ambiance made us feel that we had arrived at a resort for a luxurious staycation. Our tour focused on the two spacious bedroom units in independent living. We discovered that I could utilize the arthritic lap pool year-round. The community spaces were inviting with planned activities to engage the mind and body. The gym was well equipped with different bikes to keep us fit. In addition, two low level reading machines were set up for any sight-impaired residents. We enjoyed a 4-star lunch in the elegant with Kevin, Director of Food Services. He delighted us with explanations of weekly happy hour, special birthday dinner parties plus delivery or pick up meals. Cristina is a fantastic counselor to work with on this life-changing decision, moving to a retirement community. In the next six months, my family and I will be getting better acquainted with the various activities at La Vita before we make our decision to move in. This facility is a 10 out of 10. Note: This facility is a continuous care facility. Last year my son-in-law told me that he had made many oxygen deliveries to their memory care building. He was most impressed with the utmost cleanliness and professionalism in Memory Care!

After my mom had a stroke, we planned to have my mom stay at La Vida Real. The facility was beautiful, and the staff we met were wonderful and very helpful. At the last minute, my mom decided that she wanted to go back home, and so she didn't move in. But our experience with them, and seeing all that they offered the residence makes them a great choice.

Carrie Compton, Director of Sales, did everything she could to make the move to La Vida Real as smooth as possible. She responded to every request and came up with helpful ideas that I hadn’t thought of. She was available whenever needed and provided warm support throughout the move and after. Her enthusiasm about the chosen room was infectious and added to the satisfaction I already felt about the residence. I cannot imagine anyone in her position to be as welcoming and helpful as Carrie. She is, indeed, a wonderful asset to the staff at La Vida Real.
