One star is too much. I was Released from Cleveland Clinic on 12/22 (after 8hr surgery & 10 day post-op stay) to go to rehab facility. I was transported to the Vermilion Kingston behind Drug Mart. It was around 10pm and no one was at the reception desk. The furnishings in my room were very old. First night there, I woke up & needed to go to the bathroom. I pulled the emergency cord above the bed to request help; the cord pulled out of the wall. I called for help & an attendant came & gave me my walked & followed me to the bathroom. The bathroom smelled like urine, the grab bar next to the toilet spun & was not secure, the shower floor was warped & unsafe. I washed my hands & went back to the bed, realized it was unhealthy & unsafe to stay, called home, explained the accommodations & said I needed to leave for my wellbeing. At 4am I walked with walker out of my room, down the hall, walked past elaborate, lobby, floor to ceiling holiday decorations & out the front door to waiting car, got in & went home. No one except the lone attendant acknowledged I was walking down the hall at 4AM or that I left. Rhonda Watt

I had an excellent experience with this skilled nursing facility. The nursing staff was attentive, patient, and consistently communicated updates about our client's care. Therapists worked closely with him and we saw real improvement week after week. The building was clean, meals were appropriate for dietary needs, and the administration was easy to work with. Stephanie is a dream to work with out in the field. She is knowledgeable and efficient. Patricia is a compassionate and professional Administrator. Kristi and Maryssa, who coordinate discharge planning, are patient, kind and thorough. Overall, very positive experience with Kingston.

Mother is in long term care at Kingston. She is very well taken care of. The nurse on duty is very attentive as well as the nurse’s aid. She is always showered, given her meals on time and seen from all staff daily and evening. There are activities, pet therapy and outdoor activities we love.

My Aunt, who has dementia, lives in Kingston. She was brought there in August of 2024 after suffering a stroke. Since she has been there, they have lost all of the clothes her daughter brought to the facility except a pair of pants, two pair of socks, and a shirt. I bought her new clothes and some of those ended up missing as well. I complained about her clothes constantly ending up lost, and no one could give me a reasonable explanation of how or why. I would take my Aunt out on Sundays to dinner after I asked the facility if it was okay. One day I came to pick her up and her bottom dentures were missing. They were searched for when I complained about it, but were never found. Another time I came to visit, one of her hearing aids were gone. A nurse aid and I looked everywhere in her room, it was never found. Of course I complained about it. Another time I came to visit, I found my Aunt sitting in her wheelchair soaked in urine up to her belly. She reeked of old urine and feces, like she hadn't been changed all day. The last time I came to pick her up for Sunday dinner, the molded ear piece that is supposed to keep her remaining hearing aid in her ear was broke off. When I complained of it, the nurse lied to me saying it was always like that. I told her she was lying because I was with my Aunt when she bought her hearing aids and I was the one who took care of her for two and half years before she suffered her stroke. A few days later the facility called me stating that I am no longer permitted in the building to visit my Aunt. They made sure to keep me out by calling my Aunt's daughter, who is her POA, and complaining to her. They told her I was "causing trouble and yelling and arguing with staff," which I never did. I complained, yes, but never raised my voice and was always civil. If you love or care about your loved one, I highly recommend that you do NOT take them to this facility. The upper staff only care about their reputation. They will not safeguard your loved one's personal items and personal hygiene is not a priority.
