I am in my 90s and currently live in an independent living facility. However, realizing that I may eventually need a higher level of care, I began investigating assisted living facilities in the New Bern area. After visiting several facilities, I concluded that HomePlace of New Bern would be my first choice. Several of my friends have moved there, and through visiting them regularly and hearing about their experiences, I was able to gain a good understanding of what the facility offers. These firsthand observations confirmed my decision. What impressed me most was the staff. They are exceptionally friendly, caring, and attentive to the needs of the residents. The facility provides around-the-clock supervision, helping to ensure both safety and comfort for everyone who lives there. For residents who are able and willing to participate, Homeplace offers a variety of daily activities, including games, entertainment, social events, and light physical exercise. These programs help residents remain active and engaged. The meals are served three times a day and are both tasty and well prepared. In addition, I have attended the physical therapy program offered there for many months. The therapy has noticeably improved my mobility and my ability to care for myself independently. Based on my personal observations and experiences, I am confident that when the time comes for me to move to an assisted living facility, Homeplace will be my choice.

My Mother-in-law has been a resident at Homeplace for nearly 4 years. In that time, Sonya has been the first face we see when we come to visit. Her smile, sense of humor and kind nature make her the perfect “face of Homeplace”. While Sonya’s main responsibility is answering questions either in person or over the phone and keeping the management straight, she is always available when one of the aides might require an extra hand. In our experience, Sonya is one of the bright stars that make this experience a joy!

I would like to thank the memory care staff for taking such good care of our mother in the last days of her life. The staff lovingly referred to her as "Aunt Doris" . Thank You

My parents have moved into McCarthy Court and were having difficulties adjusting to the idea. They could not have handled this much change if it weren't for the phenomenal staff in place. They are kind, caring and compassionate. They show a remarkable level of patience and clearly know what they are doing.
