My family’s experience with assisted living/ memory care ranged from inadequate to outright neglectful at previous facilities. We were devastated and heartbroken, but then we found Highline Place, and it was such a blessing. The staff at Highline Place were a beacon of humanity. Their kindness and compassion went far beyond basic expectations; the care provided was consistently top-notch and professional. They treated my mother, who suffered from dementia, and several other health issues, with profound respect and unwavering dedication. The quality of care she received in her last chapter of life was simply incredible. Every single team member went above and beyond. We are deeply grateful for the peace of mind they gave us and for the excellent environment they created for her. I only wish we had found Highline Place sooner. If you are seeking truly trustworthy, exceptional care, look no further.

Finding the right care for a loved one with late-onset dementia became a frantic, heartbreaking, and challenging journey for our family. After watching our mother's condition accelerate and having several inconsistent and counter-productive experiences at other facilities, we arrived at Highline Place in a state of crisis. Our mom had been refused by multiple facilities following a very rough patch, and we were completely worn down. From the moment we met Traci, Jodi, and the entire staff, they didn't just offer a room; they offered immediate understanding and genuine comfort. I will never forget the moment Traci looked at me as I dropped my mother off that first afternoon and said, "Don't worry, we got this." It still brings tears to my eyes even as I write this. But those words, and the actions that followed, put our minds at ease in a way no other place had. What has happened since, in just a few short months, is nothing short of amazing—miraculous, really. Our mother transitioned from an embattled, upset, unkempt “patient”—who was constantly the "problem child" elsewhere—into a thriving, social, and active member of her new community. Before: We'd visit other places only to find her wearing the same clothes for a week, refusing to shower, barely eating, and quite literally trying to "escape." Now: At Highline Place, she is always happy, well-dressed, and groomed. She loves her new home. The nurses and staff embraced her boundless energy, viewing it not as a problem, but as an opportunity to engage her. They take her on walks, have her help with dinner prep, and keep her active. She has made several friends and participates fully in the activities offered. The care team, including the OTs, PTs, nurses, and doctors, reports to us on her progress regularly—a level of detailed communication we had never experienced before. The ultimate testament to the care she receives is how much she loves it there. When we take her out for a nice dinner or to get her nails done, she often lasts only a few hours before saying, "Ok, I'd like to go back now, please." Highline Place is her home. The staff is her family. After being told by neurologists and doctors and basically anyone we asked that her dementia would only progress and get worse, we can say, without a doubt, that she has not only gotten better, but she is finally thriving and living out her days in comfort, peace, and enjoyment. How they performed this “magic trick” we may never know. But we owe them a debt of gratitude for it. Choosing Highline Place was the best decision we made for our mother, and for our own peace of mind. We highly recommend Highline Place to any family looking for exceptional, compassionate, and transformative memory care.

After visiting more than a dozen facilities, I chose Highline Place for my husband in case he needed more care than I could provide.I made my choice more than 2 years before he was actually placed. I made several unannounced visits, participated in their support groups and listened to what other spouses had to say. This was definitely the best place for my husband for many reasons. 1. When I walked in I saw people communicating in groups, not sitting alone but actively participating in activities. 2. Watching care givers as well as support staff interact and care for residents was well above any other place I visited. 3. Watching the interactions of office personnel was amazing, Jodi and Traci knew all the residents and the residents knew them. 4.My husband was well cared for from his grooming to his special care in his eating habits. 5. The staff immediately realized that my husband needed to be kept busy, so they included him in trash pick-up, floor sweeping, and other activities that kept him busy and made him feel useful. Most times I would visit, my husband was actively involved whether in a group or with one-on-one golf, ball catching, etc. He was rarely in his room. Early on, when I entered the first thing I heard was his laughter. I hadn't heard that in years. 6. Communication was great from PT, Speech Therapy, OT, and Hospice. I always felt "up to speed" in individual care of my husband. 7. At the end of my husband's journey, Abode Hospice and the staff couldn't have been more supportive. 8.I truly believe that my husband was happier at Highline than he would have been at home. Their staff could provide the care and activity that I was not able to alone. Do your homework and visit many care centers and I believe you will come to the same conclusion that I did.

When the time came to transition my father into memory care, I researched several facilities and chose Highline Place. The staff immediately put my dad at ease and he quickly transitioned to the surroundings and daily activities. He was content there and he never looked back. The facility provides nice natural light, a good walking loop, and confined outdoor space for the residents. The dedicated staff are special people with great patience and caring hearts! Each month, Highline offers a schedule of events and activities for residents and their families to enjoy, including holiday celebrations, happy hours and special events, ex: Oktoberfest, Luau, etc. Most events include music, which is so helpful in memory care. Additionally, Highline offers family support groups twice a month, which provide attendees a place to ask questions and share experiences in a supportive environment. The depths of dementia can be profound. Moving my dad from his “overwhelming" life responsibilities, into Highline, lifted the weight from his shoulders and allowed him to relax into the final stage of his remaining time in life. Eventually, his transition to hospice care - which I had not even really considered - was done so seamlessly and offered my dad and our family great relief at the hardest of times.
