My parents are in their mid 80s. We knew the time had come to make a change from their big house to somewhere more convenient. I toured several places. One stood out. Heritage place, not because it was shiny and new, but because of the people. If there was such a thing as 20 stars I would give it to Nikki Bolden. The caring, and the openness with how she treated us was amazing in comparison to what I have seen out there. It’s obvious, that this isn’t just a job to her. She is passionate about her residents. It’s obvious that she cares about them as much as they do her. The facilities are immaculately clean, the food in their dining room smells amazing. I can attest to their baked goods. So good!! They have a wall to honor their veterans, a library, happy hour, gatherings, crafts, and so much more. I feel so comfortable with my parents going there and making this their new home. Thank you Nikki, you are a blessing to our family.

RESPONSE TO HERITAGE PLACE OWNER(s): Thank you for your reply to my initial post, but your statement in your reply: “We understand you had a very positive conversation with our Regional Vice President of Operations, Stacy Campbell, and have successfully resolved these concerns” is FALSE. I spoke with Michael at your debt collection agency several times but an agreement was not reached. I have never had a conversation with your Regional Vice President of Operations, Stacy Campbell, nor have we “successfully resolved these concerns.” My father continues to receive monthly statements from Heritage Place Independent Living/Sagora Senior Living for $5,287.77. Therefore my initial review/post (below) still stands: This is what my 97 year old (WW II, Korean war, and Vietnam war veteran) father experienced with Heritage Place Independent Living: On December 3rd we were given an informative tour and a delicious complementary lunch at Heritage Place Independent Living, during which time there happened to be a .99 cent special on the Community Fee through December 13th (the usual Community Fee being $2,499.01). My father signed a 32 page Residency Agreement the same day and paid the required $89.75 (.99 cent Community Fee special + $88.76 for one day’s rent) with a move-in date of December 31st. Eight days after signing the Residency Agreement on December 3rd, my father decided not to move to Heritage Place Independent Living after all. (He never actually moved in.) On December 11th we notified Heritage Place in writing of his decision not to move in. The following day we received an email reply stating that the special .99 cent Community Fee (that was in effect at the time he signed the Residency Agreement) was an “incentive“ and that since he decided not to move in, the usual Community Fee of $2,499.01 would now apply and would have to be paid. The Incentive Summary states “.99 community fee. If resident moves ou[t] before 60 days these concessions will have to be paid back.” “Concessions” was not defined nor is it stated on the Incentive Summary that if he did not move in, the usual Community Fee of $2,499.01 would go back into effect, nor that he must pay $2,499.01 (Community Fee) + $2,788.76 (“Partial Month Prorated and Next Month if move-in is after the (December) 15th”). The most recent statement that my father received from Heritage Place is for $5,287.77 ($2,788.76 + $2,499.01), and states that his account may be turned over to a collection agency if it is not paid. We were not made aware verbally, nor is it stated in the Residency Agreement that $5,287.77 must be paid if he did not move in. Only that we’d lose the $89.75 paid at the time of signing. I explained to the collections agent that my father is on a fixed income and has limited liquid assets, and I made attempts with Heritage Place and with the collection agency to reach a settlement, but to no avail. I would give the facility a five star rating on appearance, cleanliness, and the delicious food we received at the complementary lunch. However, WORD OF CAUTION: before you sign anything, read every word of the Residency Agreement along with any accompanying documents, and get in writing what amount(s) are expected to be paid if you move in, and also if you decide not to move in after signing the Residency Agreement.
