Memory care is our singular focus at Artis. Our approach is designed to help people living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia feel empowered and involved in their own care. We collaborate with the resident, their family, doctors, and care partners to create an intentional, assessment-based plan of care.

By gathering a thorough and thoughtful understanding of their history, interests, and personal qualities, we create a structure and routine that promotes better health, reduces stress, and increases engagement

Our intentionally designed communities promote safety and independence with adaptive, accessible design, décor that creates a sense of familiarity, and secure outdoor spaces that encourage exploration. ​

We provide support with medication reminders and activities of daily living, along with better nutrition and exercise programs to enhance overall well-being. ​

CONNECTION  
We offer daily, well-rounded opportunities for participation and social engagement with neighbors, associates, friends, and family – and monthly outings – fostering a sense of autonomy, belonging, and purpose.

COGNITIVE SUPPORT  
We engage residents in specialized programs and therapies designed to stimulate cognitive function and promote emotional well-being, including music and art therapy, memory-enhancing exercises and games, reminiscence therapy, and sensory stimulation exercises.

ARTIS LIFE ENRICHMENT PROMISE

MOVEMENT 
Daily adaptive, instructor-led classes help build strength, balance, and cardiovascular health.

Hand massages, reminiscence cards, aromatherapy, and tactile life-skills activities help reduce agitation and promote a sense of purpose.

MUSIC 
Participating in guided listening sessions and playing instruments together helps support cognitive health.

Visiting therapy animals offer emotional support and help reduce stress and anxiety.

MONTHLY GROUP OUTINGS 
Trips to local museums, parks, and restaurants keep residents safely engaged with the greater community.

TOWN HALL MEETINGS 
Residents and families have a voice in community policies and events in discussions with community leaders.

VOLUNTEERING 
Residents have opportunities to remain involved with charities and organizations and continue to make a difference through our “ICAN” program.

Play engages the brain in uniquely powerful ways – supporting cognitive function, boosting mood, and building social connection. In 2026, Artis is weaving more purposeful play into daily life, from care to mealtime to life enrichment programs.

Programs that integrate sound, touch, movement, light, aroma, and taste activate neural networks associated with emotional regulation, attention, memory, and social connection. Research links multisensory and play-based stimulation to:

• Reduced agitation and anxiety
• Improved mood and positive affect
• Increased engagement and social interaction

Each month will introduce a new dimension of play, ranging from music and movement to sensory exploration, creative expression, and occupational play – all delivered through Artis’ Life Enrichment and programming with hands-on family participation.

Safety and security are our top priorities. A safe, supportive community environment requires structure and guidelines. Here’s how we can work together for everyone’s comfort and protection.

At Artis, every detail of our community is designed for safety, security, and peace of mind. From our building features to daily routines to associate training, we take a comprehensive approach to protecting residents – while still supporting their right to make choices, move about freely, and live as independently as possible.

Our safety and security measures include: 

• 24-hour supervision by professionally trained associates
• Enclosed outdoor courtyards with decorative safety fencing and illuminated walking paths
• Exits monitored and controlled by an electronic security system
• Doors secured and locked at night
• Resident photos on file to assist in emergencies
• Non-skid, non-glare flooring to prevent slips and falls
• Extensive fire safety and emergency preparedness including fire alarms, extinguishers, a sprinkler system, smoke detectors, and self-closing smoke barrier doors
• Regular fire drills ensure associates are fully trained on evacuation routes and systems are tested and working properly
• Entire community is wheelchair accessible; wide indoor walkways feature non-skid, non-glare flooring and supportive handrails
• Optimized lighting, and wayfinding and safety signage, make navigation easier
• Adaptive furniture includes higher chairs with armrests and moisture-wicking upholstery, and lower tables with rounded edges
• Suites feature detachable handheld showers, ADA-compliant toilets, and wheelchair-accessible sinks
