I frequently visit friends there. Emerald Oaks is a beautiful facility. They have a fabulous activities planner, Kelly! They do need to revise the current daily menu in the dining room and work on a better presentation on the serving line.

Emerald Oaks has been nothing short of life-changing for my mom and for our whole family. Before she moved in, I was constantly juggling her medical care, safety concerns, daily logistics, and the emotional toll of watching her try to live alone with increasing memory issues. We were on the edge of what we could manage as a family. Since coming to Emerald Oaks, everything has stabilized in a way that I honestly wasn’t sure was possible. The team at Emerald Oaks has created an environment where my mom can still be herself—independent in the ways that matter to her—while knowing that there’s a strong, caring safety net under her. Their systems, communication, and daily support have given her structure and security without stripping away her dignity. I’ve seen her stay healthier, more engaged, and more confident here than she would have been if we’d continued trying to keep her in her own home. She has people checking in on her, activities to look forward to, and a community that looks out for her well-being. From my perspective as her primary caregiver, Emerald Oaks has been the key to keeping my mom healthy, safe, and genuinely happy. They’ve allowed us to extend her independence far beyond what we could have sustained on our own, and they’ve lifted a huge burden of worry from my shoulders. I no longer lie awake at night wondering if she fell, forgot to eat, or missed a critical medication. I know she’s surrounded by people who know her, care about her, and respond quickly if something is wrong. I am deeply grateful for Emerald Oaks. They haven’t just given my mom a place to live—they’ve given her quality of life, and given our family peace of mind. In my experience, that’s exactly what a “best place for senior living” should do.

This home opened their doors to host my grandchild's Primrose graduation ceremony and the facility is beautiful. Staff were kind and the atmosphere was very welcoming.

Emerald Oaks Retirement Resort has totally exceeded our expectations! We were looking for an assisted living type place for our mom, and we stumbled upon this amazing independent living alternative. Before we were introduced to EORR, we were underwhelmed by the options of assisted living communities in the San Antonio area. But what makes this place so special is that is it’s mix of a cruise ship setting and an apartment building. So, it doesn’t have that sad vibe that’s usually associated with assisted living centers. The people, the food, and the atmosphere, the cleanliness are exactly what we were looking for to give our mom the best possible living situation. We love the fact that it is an all-inclusive, 55+ retirement community, and felt less like a hospital! Maybe it was the food, the Koi fountain, or the movie theater… but the grandkids much prefer to visit more often too. I highly recommend giving this alternative to assisted living a chance. A special shout out to Carol Haffke (senior living consultant) and Melodie Vise for introducing us to this wonderful community. Make sure and ask about their third-party services that cater to the needs of aging parents. For us, it was one of the biggest differentiators that led to our decision (and we’re so happy places like this community exist).
