I really have nothing to compare my experience here to as this is the the first time we've lived in an independent living place. So I can only tell you my reactions to what we have experienced so far The food has been very good up until 3 weeks ago. I don't know what happened but they were short-handed and the cook may have changed. I don't know. I feel like the meals are well balanced and the portions are just right. The bread and desserts are outstanding 😋. The activities are just okay. I don't find them challenging enough but they are set up for mainly people that are quite handicapped it seems. We have a wonderful activities director who sees who our needs. But if I want something more active I would have to go to a health club outside the estates. We need more employees for sure because there were 3 weeks in a row when the house cleaners could only give us the three t's towels, toilet paper, and trash service The custodian here, Frank, is absolutely great. He has fixed things for us and hung pictures and mirrors and is willing to do whatever you ask as he is a very able person 😁. The most difficult thing for me is the high ceilings in the dining room. The openness means that my hearing aids cannot aid me. I suffer from not being able to carry on a normal conversation as it is so very noisy in the dining room 😔 We love our apartment. It's just so comfortable. We even have a nice view 🪟 I think El Dorado estates on the whole is run very well as everyone pitches in and works nicely together. They just need more help since we have so many more new people moving in 👍

My dad moved into El Dorado Estates a year and a half ago. Over that short period of time, we have come to view the staff like family. They looked after my dad, making sure that meals were brought to his room when he couldn’t get to the dining hall. The community did wonders to lift his spirit, and he enjoyed meeting new friendly faces at meals or while playing on the Bean Bag Baseball team. The meals were delicious, and almost every week either myself or one of my kids joined my dad for a meal in the dining hall. El Dorado Estates was always open to our families visiting, and there were many areas for us to sit and visit while celebrating a birthday or holiday. My kids always headed straight for the complimentary soft serve ice cream! My dad enjoyed taking in a movie at the indoor theatre, and used the shuttle to shop or go out for lunch. When my dad passed away, the manager, Fred, made a beautiful tribute for my dad on the grand piano in the main room. He made the shuttle available so that residents could come to dad’s celebration of life. 20 people from the estates came to dad’s celebration, showing what close friendships are made there. I shared many hugs and tears with employees who loved my dad and did a beautiful job caring for him. I am grateful that we found El Dorado Estates because it gave dad his independence while living in a safe and loving environment, with delicious meals! El Dorado Estates far exceeded my expectations and is truly a gem!
