Discovery Commons Hobe Sound

I noticed most reviews here are written by family members, so I wanted to share my perspective as an actual resident. I’m 73 and consider myself very active, but after an accident that required shoulder replacement surgery, I needed help during recovery since my arm was in a sling for several weeks. Having lost my wife of 45 years a little over a year ago, I decided to stay at Discovery Commons as a respite resident for one month. The facility is beautiful, and the food is very good. What really stood out to me, though, was the sense of family. The staff and residents made me feel welcome right away, and I quickly built friendships with both. Even after moving out, I’m still greeted warmly whenever I come back for happy hour, social events, or even just bingo. Based on my experience as a resident, I would absolutely recommend Discovery Commons to anyone considering assisted living for themselves or a loved one.

Mary, the Director of Sales, is amazing, empathetic and has extensive experience in this field. Loved this community but ultimately chose another where our loved one had friends at.

When it comes to senior living facilities, simple things count. True, physical amenities and activities are important. My father lived in assisted living here for 2.5 years. During this time, the caring staff went above and beyond to care for him. He had a lovely private studio room with a great layout (the bathroom a straight shot from the bed.) I appreciated knowing he was well looked after. There were a lot of activities and outings for the residents. My father especially liked watching Sunday NFL football in their movie theatre. Mike in the kitchen did a great job creating good meals for the residents. Food quality was important to my father and I appreciated how they always gave him something to eat, even if it wasn’t mealtime. Debbie, who sat behind the front desk during the week, had the biggest heart in the world. Her job is underrated, for sure. Rob, in charge of maintenance, was always willing to help. He helped with little things as well as important items, and even helped my dad out of the car once or twice. John in sales was always walking around making sure the residents and their families had everything they needed. I never had any issues. The staff always immediately alerted me whenever an issue arose. All the staff cares about the residents, regardless of their role. I placed my father here due to close proximity to me but I would recommend this facility to anyone with an aging parent.
