Discovery Commons Brookfield

Discovery Commons is a beautiful community. It's always clean and you are always greeted with a smile by the staff at the front desk. LaToya and Liz are great. They genuinely care about the residents. They are professional and engaging, often working a long side the caregivers to ensure the residents needs are met and the care staff have the support they need. I would recommend Discovery Commons to anyone looking for a caring environment for their loved one to live in.

I can't say enough good things about Discovery Commons: They go above and beyond to ensure residents feel at home and are well cared for. The facilities are clean, comfortable, and filled with engaging activities that keep everyone active and social. The staff is not only professional but also genuinely caring, always taking the time to listen and address any concerns. I highly recommend Discovery Commons to anyone looking for a compassionate and supportive environment for their loved ones.

My mother was a resident in memory care at Heartis/Discovery Commons Brookfield for nearly two years. She entered without any significant health issues. A few months after she moved in, she fell under their supervision. X-rays determined she there weren't any fractures, but she continued to express severe pain. Instead of focusing on healing her back, she was made to feel like an inconvenience due to the extra care she needed. Overall, the quality of food was given on a daily basis was low, which did not promote the healing process. Another concern was the need for more personal compassion and attention from daily staff. She expressed that she refrained from speaking up for herself as it was well known amongst the residents that the staff and management would retaliate. The loneliness and neglect I witnessed were troubling and sad. Her physical and mental health started to decline rapidly. During one visit we found the bed broken with the mattress filthy. Due to the events above, we removed my mom from Heartis/Discovery Commons as a result of their poor management and lack of overall care.

Beautiful facility with a handful of caring people. This really is more an Independent Living facility. If your loved one needs a higher level of care, stay away. Heartis is not staffed properly with the type of aides required to support additional needs in a proper caring manner. No one there wants to be bothered with your loved ones additional needs. The weekend staff in particular (with no management present) can be abusive. Any concerns are met with a very defensive stance from the management team and will go unanswered unless you continue to push for a solution. Some residents are even too scared to complain for fear of retribution. That is an unacceptable environment to be in. My mom spent the last 2 months of her life there and looking back...our family wishes it could have been anywhere else.
