My MIL has been a resident in the Sweet Memories wing at Cedar Manor for almost seven months. We are more than pleased with the care she receives there. From the moment you enter the building and are greeted by the concierge, to chatting with the care teams, activities folks and even the chef...you feel so welcomed. The care teams are kind, considerate, attentive, patient, and genuinely care about the residents. The facility is clean, meals are great, and the decor is upscale. There are enough activities to keep most residents entertained throughout the day. I truly appreciate all that the entire staff do to care for and love on my MIL. I also appreciate how supportive the staff is of the WHOLE family. Many of us are dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's for the first time in our lives and everyone there is helpful with resources or just lending an ear if you need to talk. Thank you to everyone at Cedar Manor who makes Mary's (my MIL) life a bit brighter.

This place is a nightmare! My father was only in there 2 weeks I got him out ASAP. We, my family stayed with my dad at night for three nights to make sure he was ok. He liked it here. He was able to get in wheelchair go to the window outside his room sleep on the sofa by the window, independence . As soon as we stopped staying the nightmare began… it didn’t matter what time or how many times a day I went by he was wet sitting in his urine. Pants and shirt soaked. At night he would get up to go to bathroom and fell so they started giving him meds. Instead of checking on him. If they had checked on him once during the night to take him to bathroom this would not have happened. Last straw was I went to see him at breakfast but he wasn’t in cafeteria. I went to his floor he wasn’t in his room so I asked the nurse at desk. She said, he’s in sunroom eating his breakfast he wasn’t able to go downstairs. To my shock he was barely coherent he’s plate was mush with liquid from coffee. His mouth full of food trying to eat I had to clean it out. I was so shocked I took him to his room and started immediately getting him out. Which I did ! He was there two weeks that should tell you something. Sarah was no help at all I reported the wet clothes everyday. And not one thing improved it got worse. I wouldn’t put my dog in that place.

I don’t have a family member who goes there but I do come in 2 times out the week to service the community and they are always nice the community is always clean and smells nice. Robin at the front desk is always smiling and willing to help along with the other staff members. I can always find someone when I need help with a resident or have a question. They’re great people here !!!!!!

This was a very unique experience that anyone working with dementia/Alzheimer’s patients should participate in. I walked in thinking I had a sense of what my patients may be feeling. But, that was clearly not the truth. I walked away with such a better understanding of the dementia experience. And, I hope that I take that in to my interactions with my patience in the future.
