My mom became a resident of The Vero when it first opened 2 years ago. I was very happy with the environment and the staff was very friendly. They knew, and still know, every resident by name. The staff even gets to know the names of the family members, if the family member visits often. There is staff turnover but that's to be expected. The food is good, there are plenty of in-house fun activities, plenty of trips to lunch, shopping, restaurants. All in all, I highly recommend The Vero.

On a whole, the Vero is an attractive facility and for the most part, they try to keep the residents safe, healthy and entertained. There are always a few bad apples that will bring things down and unfortunately, they seem to be at the top. One can see immediately through the smiles that they are not genuine. The Vero has some unresolved issues where the only response is, “we will look into it” which never happens. Unfortunately, this causes a constant turnover with staff and residents. I would suggest, for new residents, a Buddy System or Welcoming Committee be started to help them get to know the ins and outs of being in a new home. Where to go, introductions to meet other residents, and someone to answer all of the questions a new resident has. Housekeeping staff is not dependable and apartments are not cleaned as scheduled, linens are not changed weekly, trash is not removed, and floors are not washed. There are always excuses. Dining offers choices and a beautiful setting, and most of the servers are personable and attentive. Temperatures in the building are extremely cold in the 60’s. Employees have heaters by their feet but this is an ongoing issue for the residents who stay cold. This is another issue that “they will look into” but nothing changes. Residence seem to enjoy the activities offered and the staff seem to enjoy their jobs. The Vero is a very pretty place. Working in a senior living community takes a special person….they need to keep in mind that they are dealing with older people who deserve patience, respect and kindness.

My dad has been living at The Vero at Chesapeake since January 2025 and could not be any happier with his decision. I have visited at least a dozen senior living communities and can recommend the Vero without any hesitation. The facilities, activities, and food are all amazing, but the staff and residents are what really make The Vero exceptional. Everyone is very friendly and the staff is extremely attentive to each residents needs.

My dearest friend lives at the Vero, and each time I go there to visit her, I really feel like I'm going to a fine resort. The atmosphere is always serene and you might as well call the staff "friends," due to the exemplary care provided to all the people in their charge. The buildings themselves are a treat to the senses, with a beach cottage vibe, due to the beautiful paintings and soothing wall colors that abound. The abundant windows keep the place bright and cheery year round. The magic is multiplied by seasonal decorating. My friend's husband spent his last days there, and he received the ultimate care. I am recognized when I go there, even to being noticed for my blue hair, and the changing tints thereof. The staff welcomes me back warmly if I haven't been around for awhile. My final remark has to do with the attitude of excellence exhibited by all personnel, each of whom demonstrates by an air of calm and caring, that love and a desire to serve are the top priorities at The Vero.
