The first two years of my wife’s Alzheimer’s Care was in a well recognized facility in Marin. The care did not seem right so after two years, I moved her to Cogir. The difference was like night and day She was better taken care of, The environment was better, The people were more professional, She always looks Well cared for, well dressed, hair done. There are lots of people around, who can carry on a conversation with her, which was a new experience from the previous one. Now she actually does have a community to live in And I feel so much better now that I made this move for her. Kimberly, the Executive director is a professional caring individual whom I am very impressed With.

Placing my dad in a memory care facility was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. After visiting several options, we ultimately chose Cogir San Rafael. He’s now settled in, has made some friends, and the staff has been incredibly kind and supportive. The new Executive Director has been wonderful to work with, and I truly appreciate the compassion and professionalism of everyone there. While I wish I could care for my dad myself, it brings me peace knowing he’s in such good hands.

We had last minute planned to take our church family to sing Christmas carols there and Maria came to help us on her day off. We had great time there and so glad to see the joyful faces of all residents there.

This senior facility is perfect for those who have significant memory challenges. Residents won’t remember the food is terrible, their belongings are missing, their rooms weren’t cleaned and no one really is trained to manage their needs during the decline. This is likely true of the majority of memory care residencies. Cogir, who are in the competitive range of 10k/month to cover room, board and bingo should re-visit their expense budget and start with putting real cheese on their burgers and swapping out the processed line up with “real food” on their burgers menu. Every meal could be their last…. What a crime.
