Care
Assisted Living
A living option for seniors or individuals who require assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, or medication management while maintaining a level of independence. Assisted living facilities offer personalized care plans and social activities that promote quality of life for their residents.
Independent Living
Designed to help older adults who want to maintain an active and independent lifestyle, these communities offer services and amenities that cater to residents’ needs, while encouraging a sense of community and freedom from the responsibilities of owning a home.
Memory Care
Memory care communities offer specialized care and support for individuals dealing with memory-related conditions, such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. These facilities are equipped with trained staff and offer engaging activities designed to promote well-being while ensuring a safe living environment.
Life Plan/CCRCs
Also referred to as Life Plan Communities, these communities offer a comprehensive continuum of care for residents. CCRCs offer multiple levels of care, allowing seniors to transition between independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care as their needs change throughout their aging journey.
Senior Apartments
Senior apartments are designed for older adults, featuring amenities and services. These apartments offer a maintenance-free lifestyle with access to social activities, promoting active living and independence.
Respite Care
Respite care is short-term or temporary care. Respite care can be provided in adult day centers, in private homes via home health agencies and in senior living communities, most often assisted living or skilled nursing facilities.
Nursing Homes
Skilled nursing and nursing homes are residential facilities that offer medical care and support for individuals that require a higher level of medical attention and assistance. These are staffed by licensed healthcare providers and offer a range of services to ensure the well-being and comfort of residents.
Neighborhood
Pulling from a variety of reliable data sources, Walk Score® measures the walkability of any address, helping you understand how easy it is to live a car-free lifestyle. Transit Score®, when available, measures how well a location is served by public transit. Scores range from 0 to 100, with higher scores indicating more amenities within walking distance and diverse transit options nearby.

We finally moved my mom out of Assisted Living after seven years. A third party assessment company conducted an assessment and discovered gross neglect. Three other separate professionals corroborated this company’s conclusions. Cedarbrook had not assessed my mother’s care needs in years of taking more than $9,000/month. Tatiana, the head nurse, insisted that observing my Mom walking in the lobby was sufficient assessment. A janitor could make the same degree of assessment. This caused Tatiana to understate my Mom’s needs, threatening her long term care insurance coverage. Afraid of being kicked out, my Mom’s stress level escalated. Her BP was measured over 200 for weeks. Tatiana’s actions directly caused a threat to my mother’s life. Aids, unhappy with reading the high BP, did not record these numbers. They came back later to try for lower numbers. This is fraud. Her BP dropped 70 points in two hours once we fixed the insurance crisis created by Tatiana. “We can’t learn what we are sure we already know.” Tatiana didn’t want to learn my Mom’s true condition. This didn’t change the fact that the lack of assessment meant the lack of services to address needs that were not known to staff. My Mom suffered, unnecessarily, while living in a beautiful facility, for years. Skin infections persisted untreated for years, despite required skin assessments with shower aid; and medications for infections being sent home after hospital stays. These cleared up in two weeks after proper care was administered at her new assisted living facility. They do not follow protocol. She passed out and fell, likely as a result of the high blood pressure, and was found 30 minutes later, sitting on the floor. Instead of calling paramedics, as is protocol when the cause of a fall is unknown, and the fall is not witnessed; they (Dierdra) tried to lift her alone, then shamed her for being “too heavy” She got another aid to help, and left her alone in her chair. Both of my mother’s arms were badly bruised, likely from the improper lifting of her off the floor. Two other residents have died from brain bleeds. They should know better. Do they not train their nurses? High turnover and chronic understaffing caused my Mom to ask for less and less help. She is alive today only because I continuously intervened in her care. During our exit, Ann, in accounting, went into my Mom’s room to try to bully her into writing a check to Cedarbrook for thousands more than was owed, and ignored a call from my sister to clear up the confusion Ann and I had already discussed. My Mom told her “I have to stand by my daughters.” A rare “win”. I’ve spent years fighting for her to have adequate care, while my Mom tells me to overlook their negligence because they are “family”. She even suggested that the only reason Ann padded the bill, and was so aggressive in getting my Mom to pay it before her daughters could protect her, was because Cedarbrook “is really hurting for money.” The owner is a multi-billionaire. Again: The owner is a multi-billionaire. …yet they couldn’t pay the better aids enough to keep them?? What are their priorities? Power? Money? Compassion for residents and staff? Image? Effective care? My Mom is doing well in her new home. Her stress level is way down. Her BP is way down. She is in less pain. She sleeps better. She laughs more. She gets five times the services she was getting before; which gives her more energy to do things she wants to. Our new choice is a Waltonwood facility. No facility is perfect; but, they are certainly not all the same.

Exceptional Care at Cedarbrook Senior Living – Highly Recommended My wife stayed at Cedarbrook Senior Living of Bloomfield Hills from January 2025 to February 2025, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the care and attention she received. From the very beginning, I met with Dena (Executive Director) and Tatiana (Head Nurse) to discuss my goals for my wife's care. They took the time to listen, understand, and ensure that every request was fully met. My wife had ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), which required specialized care, and the staff at Cedarbrook provided it with compassion, professionalism, and unwavering dedication. The caregivers were attentive, kind, and always available when needed. Knowing that my wife was in such capable hands gave me great peace of mind. If you are looking for a senior living facility that truly prioritizes the well-being of its residents, I highly recommend Cedarbrook Senior Living of Bloomfield Hills.

updated April 2025: Do your homework if you are interested in the nursing floor at CB. Check certifications...RN, LPN and CPR. My mother has since passed away since my 1st review in 2023 but its my mission to get the word out about the poor care at CB. My hope is through these reviews the nursing care at CB improves. I will continue to ask around the community and read reviews. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2023: Please do your due diligence before you bring your loved one to Cedarbrook. I know it's a hard decision to determine the best place for your loved one and you feel like the more you pay the better the care - don't be fooled liked we were, this is not the case at CB. You will pay $13k+ (Oct 2022) a month for nursing care and it’s very upsetting the way they treat patients. My mother was overmedicated, severe bed sores, dirty room and sheets and staff sleeping on the job. One positive thing about CB is PT They were our lifeline and made our loved one feel loved and heard. Thank you ! update 3/2024: Since we left the one person we trusted and was our voice has also left PT so be sure to ask questions on their PT care. There is zero training for this staff, they have no idea how to care for a patient other than distributing pills. The RN ? (I would check credentials...she may have completed school by now 3/2024) however in 2022 she was being called an RN and not done with school and the Dr is no where to be found on the floor even on the days he does rounds. My sick mother is a Registered Nurse and often showed the staff how to do things. Ask for certifications its critical and what training they receive to care for your loved one. Oakland county residents, there are other places for your loved ones in the area and outside the county. Please do your homework and trust the reviews. Reach out to me should you have additional questions - reply to this thread. I'm happy to share specific examples with you. I have proof of the poor care and lack of via emails with the Sr. staff/Dr on call and lots of photos/videos.

Cedarbrook has been great with my mother. She has transitioned from their assisted living to the nursing home side. The staff are wonderful. There are many events that make her day to day living enjoyable. We love visiting and my kids love getting ice cream with their nana at Claire’s! Would recommend to anyone in the area looking for options for their aging parents.
