Callaway Gardens Alzheimer’s Special Care

Callaway Memory Care was home for both my mom and dad for the past four years. They have both since passed, but each of them wanted to return “home” from the hospital to Callaway so they could spend their final days surrounded by family. That alone says so much about the comfort and trust they felt there. The nursing and attendant staff were consistently exceptional. There was very little turnover, and as my parents’ needs increased, the team cared for them with dignity, compassion, and the kind of tenderness you hope someone would show their own parents. My father especially loved his nurses and even had a “birthday buddy” he considered family. I was told his final words were a sincere “thank you” to the young women caring for him in hospice — a testament to the respect and connection he felt. We went through hospice care at Callaway, and my family and I were deeply impressed. Staff checked on my dad more than hourly, talking with him, comforting him, and providing the delicate care he needed. Four years ago, we were in a desperate situation after another facility told us my parents were no longer welcome. Callaway stepped in and promised this could be their home until their “last time.” They kept that promise. Because of them, both my mom and dad were able to spend the end of their lives close to family and under the best care we could have hoped for. Google My husband has been living at Callaway Gardens for eight months. From the minute I stepped inside to take a tour it just felt different from the others I'd visited....it felt right...it felt like it could be his new home. While it was the hardest decision I've ever had to make, it was the best decision for both him and our family. The staff are so kind and compassionate, and they work with each individual person to find out their likes and abilities and find creative ways to allow the person to continue to use them. My husband enjoys being outside and gardening, so he is now the landscape committee leader and waters the flowers every day and in the winter he also helps lay down ice on the sidewalks- he takes pride in keeping his new home beautiful and safe. One of the most unexpected and beautiful things I've come to see at Callaway Gardens is that there is no judgment – my husband is allowed to be who he is now in a safe environment, living with others who are also dealing with cognitive decline, and being cared for by caring and educated staff who know that who he is now is not who he was. Callaway Gardens has been a blessing to our family and I recommend that others check it out and see for themselves what a special place it is!

I can’t say enough good things about Callaway Memory Care in Kennewick. They’ve been a lifesaver for me and my family while caring for my dad. From the moment we started working with them, it was clear they genuinely care about the people they’re helping. Juanita has been especially amazing. She’s been incredibly helpful, always ready with answers and solutions, and just really understanding of what families are going through. It’s not easy trusting someone else to care for your parent, but she and the entire team made it so much easier for me to feel confident about my dad being in the right place. The facility is clean, organized, and has a welcoming atmosphere. You can tell the staff really puts in the effort to make residents comfortable and cared for. It’s not just a job to them—it’s clear they take pride in what they do. If you’re looking for a place that actually cares and treats your loved one like family, I can’t recommend Callaway Memory Care enough.
