Brookdale West Bay

I had the privilege of touring Halcyon West Bay the other day. Paige and her team did a phenomenal job showing me around. The building is very clean! I love the concept of all assisted-living, memory care and the bridge program. The staff was very nice and engaged with me while I was taking a visit. I would recommend Halcyon to any person that needs assisted-living.

It’s been more than a year since my mom moved into Reflections, the memory care wing at Halcyon at West Bay. That’s long enough to be able to write unequivocally that this community is deserving of a 5-star rating. Mom moved in with dad in October of 2024. He was very happy with the room and with the opportunity to meet new people. Unfortunately mom didn’t share dad’s enthusiasm; she cried the first night. It didn’t get much better for mom when only two weeks later dad required skilled nursing at a different community. Sadly, he never returned to Halcyon, passing away in February of 2025. But it was during this period, and the months that followed his passing, where Halcyon showed their most valuable quality - a culture of compassion. You will no doubt be impressed with the building when you first walk through the door - it’s very clean with nicely appointed common areas and generously-sized rooms. But it’s the employees who truly make Halcyon distinct. The Certified Nursing Assistants are absolute angels. They care beyond measure and take the time to really know the residents. Because of the love and care they give my mom, I look upon many of them as family. The nurses are also highly capable and professional. They are hyper-focused on the health and wellbeing of the residents. I have gotten to know many of them and I can tell you it’s because of their vigilance that mom has remained healthy during her stay. Even the cleaning and cooking staffs are excellent! They take great pride in what they do and exceed expectations time and time again. One thing you will discover, as I did, is that life in an assisted living community is very fluid. Personal needs change and health levels fluctuate, many times at a moment’s notice. You need a caring team to manage that dynamic, and that’s where Halcyon’s administrators truly distinguish themselves. It’s a daunting task to integrate so many different lifestyles and life experiences under one roof. Mom had only one roommate for 65 years - my dad. So when he passed it was very difficult for mom to stay in a double room with new roommates. The management team recognized this and worked with me to find mom a private room when one opened up. It made a world of difference! Choosing an assisted living community for your loved one will probably be one of the hardest decisions you will ever make. I hope this review will help you in making that choice a lot easier. Thank you, Halcyon, for being so wonderful to my parents.

Halcyon at West Bay is one of the best decision our family has made for the care of our mother. I cannot say enough about the level of care and attention the staff provides on a daily basis to include everyone from adminstration, nursing, kitchen, maintenance, cleaning, bridges program, and drivers!! The staff is always smiling, extremely friendly, and they always know where my mom is. They tell me about all the activities she has participated in and they truly care about her, which is extremely comforting. The faciity is very clean and mom says the food is amazaing! Mom is thriving and living her best life, she has made so many friends, both staff and residents, and her days are filled with activities and bus rides!! Knowing that mom is happy and being well cared for provides our family with peace of mind. Halcyon at West Bay is a truly amazing facility!!!

Mom originally went to Brookdale West Bay for a 30 day respite. Two weeks into her stay she decided this would be a new chapter and permanent home for her. My family and I were thrilled for Mom as well as knowing she was home in a great place. The facility is clean, cheerful, and welcoming. There are numerous activities, accommodations, and amenities. Every member of the staff are amazing and vested in the care and support of the residents. It was refreshing to witness from the administrators to maintenance to activities to medical to receptionist, the staff truly enjoy their jobs. Mom quickly got involved with games, entertainment, movies and made some new friends. I highly recommend going for a tour. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Brookdale West Bay.
