This place is the worst place u could ever leave ur loved ones. The first problem that will occur is billing it will take weeks to get that figured out. They are so sweet & helpful when u sign up but after that it’s a different story. My mom had a roommate that I can’t even begin to tell u how bad it was. She used my mom’s products, ate her food used her refrigerator. Mom had no room for her stuff. She Had a c-pac but wouldn’t use it snored all night. She had No respect for moms space. Requested to be moved all we ever heard is it would be next week, next week never came The worst think she brought bed bugs into the room (it was a nightmare) they put my mom in another room, no tv, she had no shoes or her teeth. She couldn’t eat lunch or dinner because she couldn’t chew without her teeth. Had to take her roommate by ambulance to the hospital because she had so many bug bites. Wouldn’t let anyone in that room until it was sprayed. So mom had no chance of clothes for three days. We brought mom home with us & it took them over a week to get the room sprayed. They told us it was our responsibility to come & put all of her stuff in big plastic bag. We told them that would be their responsibility. It was truly the worst experience we have encountered. Plus on top of all that they charged us $1600.00 because we didnt give them a two week notice she was leaving. Ridiculous if u have family there or are planning please don’t do it. This is just a little bit of what accrued while she was there.

My husband and I were going on vacation and needed to find respite care for my mother, who lives with us. Since my mom is relatively mobile, still engages with her peers, and needs to feel comfortable in a clean and safe environment, I needed to find a suitable place to provide that for her. I wanted a place nearby, so I started my research and was directed to Brookdale Union Park in Monroe. After visiting the site, I found that it checked all my boxes, but what about my mother’s? It checked all of hers; it was all that it promised and more. Her room was clean and comfortable with plenty of sunshine, and the staff–from administration to support services–was warm, welcoming, and responsive to her needs. There were plenty of activities and opportunities to engage with her peers, and the meals and snacks (kudos to Argemiro G.) were plentiful and delicious. During her stay, she was treated like a permanent resident and also made some new friends. The cost of the stay was only exceeded by the services/benefits she received while there. Special mention goes to Management team members—Angela B., Tiffany L., Meshell B., and Amethyst G.—for making her stay memorable. When my mother left, the staff made her feel welcome to come back for another future stay. I would not hesitate for a minute to recommend Respite Care at Brookdale Union Park for your loved one.

I would not recommend this place. The Director of Nursing is a piece of work. Hiding paperwork, incident reporting, meds and failed to communicate and produce paperwork after my mother was mysteriously found unresponsive. Do your homework. Most, most of the other staff were nice. Director and DON not so much. Beware

I have an uncle at Brookdale who has been there about a year and a half now. I believe the facility as a whole is a very good facility and most of my experiences with the staff have been pleasant. I believe most on the staff at Brookdale are professional and courteous and there are some that genuinely seem to care about the residents and do an excellent job for them and do the best they can for them and that is what matters most of all. But I have spoke on the phone with and dealt with some members of the staff at Brookdale who were flat out rude and bordering on being out right obnoxious. These individuals seem to like to really throw their weight around and try to show who is boss. These individuals are not professional when it comes to dealing with families of the residents and I can only hope and pray that they are not equally unprofessional and rude and borderline obnoxious with the residents in their care. Brookdale needs to weed these people out and get rid of them and it would be a far better place.
