Brookdale Richland Hills

Brookdale Richland Hills, Richland Hills, TX

Overview

If your loved one is like most of the residents here at Brookdale Richland Hills, our memory care community in Richland Hills, Texas, they’ve spent a lifetime enjoying things like hobbies and meaningful relationships with friends and family. Just because they’ve been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia doesn’t mean that should have to change.

We designed our community from the ground up to take care of seniors just like your loved one. You’ll find a number of memory care features that offer the right combination of safety and independence. For example, our community has large, circular paths that make wayfaring easy for each resident. We also use color coding and decorate the entire campus to resemble a private home so that everyone feels comfortable and at ease while they’re here.

Safety is a top priority, too, which is why we have monitored entries and exits, enclosed outdoor spaces and 24-hour security. Each precaution allows for your peace of mind without inhibiting your loved one’s ability to enjoy as much freedom as possible.

As important as safety and security features are, it isn’t all that your loved one will enjoy here. They can exercise their freedoms to get a cup of coffee with a friend, listen to live musical performances or strap on their shoes and go for an afternoon excursion with their peer group. They’ll also be able to take advantage of our signature, person-centered Clare Bridge program, which gives residents six planned activities to participate in each day.

We’ll meet your loved one where they are while also offering gentle guidance and reminders as they enjoy things like:

  • Gardening

  • Movie nights

  • Gentle exercise classes

  • Chair volleyball

  • Table tennis

  • Ice cream socials

Before they move in, we’ll work together to design a custom care plan that meets their specific needs so you can have peace of mind knowing their health and wellness needs are being addressed. Our staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency. But we’re also here to lend a hand with daily living tasks like bathing, dressing and managing medication, as well as personal dining assistance.

In the 2 yrs my mom was in MC, they went through 3 directors & 2 activity directors. I saw multiple nurses come and go...I would see them start with enthusiasm to make changes and then defeat when they could not. I would get my hopes up just to be let down. It was fine at first, but went downhill quickly. I was told during the tour, they offered fine dining (table cloth, napkins and a center piece on the table). At one point the fine dining stopped and they went approximately 6 mths w/o even a napkin to wipe their mouth. Residents were spilling food on their clothes and wiping their mouths on their sleeves. I was told they would be given paper napkins, but that didn't happen either. I was told each residents clothes would be washed separately, but that was not always the case. I found a pair of my mom's black pants in her closet with 3 pairs of black pants that weren't hers. They looked like they had all been washed with a white, fuzzy blanket. I was told they had the "required" # of caregivers on staff, but the "required" # never felt like enough. I don't know if the issue is with corporate or the facility itself, but I felt like no one wanted to make things better. One thing I especially didn't like is MC and AL are in separate bldgs and the director's office is in AL. I want to add that one of the Google reviews was written by an employee.

I live in the neighborhood and this facility has consistently ignored my request that they pick up their trash. It gets thrown outside the bin and rots, smells and is probably a medical waste situation. Animals get into it and it get blown into the neighborhood yards. If they can't even manage their trash I can't imagine trusting my loved ones care to them. *Photos taken 2/23 that's a glove with feces.

My mother recently needed a Level B facility for assisted living. She moved to Brookdale Richland Hills. We were extremely impressed by the quality of the staff. Madison, Blake, Shea, Chris and really all the team were wonderful. They were patient with all of our questions and requests. They displayed competence but also genuine compassion and warmth. Thank you to all!

We really wanted to love Brookdale RH! And the first 6 weeks, we did! Then the honeymoon ended and the REAL Brookdale showed up. From questioning the business/managment structure of Brookdale in general, to their lack of compassion, little to no genuine kindness, ALWAYS under staffed, a nurse that would rather sit at her desk and focus on her disgusting and quite immature social media, to staff that complains non-stop, to refusing to provide the services we were paying for such as escorting our mom to and from meals and to all activities. Oh, and two BIGGIES: not dispensing mom’s meds and not feeding our mom on more than one occasion. And, even though they all knew our family used the cameras in mom’s room, we have a lot of footage, it didn’t seem to change their irresponsible, unprofessional way of handling their business or their residents! So much more I could say but… We’re not sure who is actually running that community but it’s definitely not the management. Beware! It’s not what you see in the beginning!
