I choose Brookdale/Discovery Village independent living for my 87 yr old Dad based on a referral from A Place For Mom. Denise was super helpful and kind when I did the tour. She answered all my questions and kept in contact with me and reached out multiple times. We corresponded multiple times via email. I'm so glad she did! My Dad called her a few times and she was very patient and returned his calls promptly. Tanya was also super helpful in coordinating move in and explaining/offering us information. Jason has been also been helpful with maintenance and the questions/tech help my Dad has. We used Hollander Storage & Moving in Elk Grove Village for the move. Jimmy, Jose and Tyler were great! There's a loading dock in the back of the building. There's also elevators for use for the move. Dad is on the 1st floor. He moved in on a Friday and there was someone singing Motown hits and we started singing along! His 1BRM unit is a perfect size for him and includes a frig/freezer, small dishwasher, and plenty of storage/closets. There's laundry in the building he can do himself or pay to have done. He has to get his steps in but it's walker friendly and plenty of room to move around in his apartment. There's always something for my Dad to do here! They had a Mardi Gras party, Super Bowl party, and tons of groups he can join if he chooses. There's a library, workout room, small café for coffee/snacks for purchase. Outside there's seating and walking paths on property. The building is well maintained and I believe is under going renovations as I write this review. The social interactions were an important aspect and from the point of move in day my Dad was welcomed by staff by his first name. They also had ambassadors come to his room to "pick him up for dinner" the first weekend he was there. What a nice touch! They showed him around and talked to him and made him feel comfortable. Dad eats dinner with people he's met there and never has to eat alone (unless he wants to). Breakfast and dinner are in a dining area where they seat him after checking in. He raves about the ice cream and likes that there are multiple choices for dinner. I feel really good about the choice I made to move my Dad here. My Dad is very happy here and I feel I made the right decision for his move from MI to be closer to me/family. It also involved a sale of a home and was a very stressful time. Thank you to the entire staff for making this transition less stressful for me and my family!

Mom has been at Brookdale for about 10 weeks now. While she is sad to leave her home of 68 years, she is pleased with Brookdale. She comments on the friendliness of the other residents, the helpfulness of the staff, excellent physical and occupational therapy and she loves the dining rooms and the food. She looks forward to concerts and activities. She was very pleased with the on site beauty parlor. She is looking forward to spending more time outdoors enjoying the pond and the paved path. The staff communicates well with me. I did my research before moving Mom to Brookdale and the monthly cost is economical as far as independent living and assisted living facilities go.

Brookdale Hoffman Estates Testimonial Nearly five years ago, my Godfather made Brookdale Hoffman Estates his home, and we couldn't be more grateful for the exceptional care and community he's found there. Noreen, the Director of Resident Services, has been an invaluable partner to both my Godfather and our family. She masterfully balances her professional expertise with genuine personal care, treating every resident as if they were her own family. Through several challenging situations, Noreen has been our steadfast support—I honestly don't know what we would have done without her guidance and dedication. As my Godfather's needs evolved and he required additional assistance to remain in Independent Living, Mary and the Brookdale at Home team seamlessly stepped in. My Godfather thrives under their attentive care, receiving multiple daily check-ins along with assistance with bathing, dressing, and meal management. Their support allows him to maintain his independence while ensuring his safety and wellbeing. Beyond the exceptional care, my Godfather has built meaningful friendships and actively participates in community life. He particularly enjoys his Mexican Train Dominoes games and meals in the beautiful dining hall. The vibrant social atmosphere has truly enriched his daily experience. What sets Brookdale Hoffman Estates apart is the genuine passion of every team member. From Josey's warm welcome at the front desk to the skilled maintenance crew who keep everything running smoothly, to the bus driver who treats each resident with such thoughtful care—everyone demonstrates a love for what they do that creates an atmosphere of true hospitality. For anyone seeking a friendly, beautiful, engaging, and secure home for their loved one, I wholeheartedly recommend Brookdale Hoffman Estates. The combination of professional excellence and heartfelt care makes it truly special.

We recently helped Mom move from Florida to Illinois to be closer to family. Our selection process was thorough including visits to 8 facilities in our area. In the end, Mom chose Brookdale Hoffman Estates (BHE) and she is extremely happy with that decision. Her family is equally happy and impressed with BHE. While impossible to measure, Mom's number one selection criteria was the "vibe" of the people and place. BHE gave her the positive vibe she sought from first impression to her current experience 3 months after moving in. The staff is outstanding across the board. Management, maintenance, cleaning, wait staff, cooks, medical, front desk staff, transportation staff etc. show that they care for the residents. And the residents themselves make Mom feel that she has found her new home. Mom loves her apartment with a view and engages actively in the available activities. She says that one can be busy all the time if desired, and that the hard part is deciding how many things to do. She uses the walking space around the building and enjoys all of the flowers that are maintained on the property. Mom's closing statement as I interviewed her for this review "I really couldn't be happier!"
