Brookdale Greenwood Village Reviews

My Mom was only at Brookdale Greenwood Village for a couple of months before her passing, but I am extremely grateful for the loving, caring, and safe environment they have created in the Clare Bridge memory care unit. When I was setting up her room before she even moved in, the staff were all coming by and introducing themselves to me. By the time she arrived I felt like I was leaving her with family! The facility itself is spotless and I never noticed any odors (except the one day they had lunch with garlic in it!). I was comfortable with Mom being there because I could tell she was always well-cared for.

My mom was a patient at Brookdale Greenwood Village from 5/17-6/2/2025 in their Skilled Nursing Section. I am writing this review so you can protect your loved one from sub par care. She was admitted due to extensive wound care after being confined at a hospital in Parker for 3 weeks with infected bed sores that required surgery on both her heels and low back. At the time of my intake interview, I was assured that Brookdale had a specialized wound care team and a wound care physician on staff. I did my due diligence and researched their reviews on several sites and also on Medicare's site and the State of Colorado sites for licensing and inspection results. Everything appeared to be good but that's where the real story begins. The doctor’s orders upon admission were to have her repositioned in her bed every two hours due to her large bedsore on her back and also wound/dressing changes on her heels and legs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The wound care team is not specialized and several of the nurses that were tasked with her wound care were not trained, or familiar with this type of wound care. My husband and I spent every day for about 8-10 hours each day supervising her care so we knew orders were being adhered to. On many occasions I was directing the nurses as to what needed to be done and how it needed to be done using the appropriate medications and dressings. This is NOT acceptable!! Also, she was not being repositioned in her bed every two hours per doctors orders. My mom was also on IV antibiotics that had specific lab requirements that had to be done and the results faxed to her wound care physician to determine the correct dosing of the antibiotics. This was also not being done and on the days where the labs were to be done prior to medication administration, either the labs were not done at all, or they were done but they never faxed the results to the wound care doctor as ordered. I had to get the nurse to find the results and then take them to someone that had a fax machine and send the results. My mom had multiple skin tears on her legs and the dressings were soaked and not changed in a timely manner. I was constantly having to find someone to find out why her dressings were soaked. I should not have had to follow them around ensuring that all the orders were being followed. If your loved one needs wound care, please do not risk their welfare by assuming they will be taken care of. On another note, my mom was not able to feed herself and we told them she required assistance with eating and drinking. If we were not on site during any meal, the CNAs would bring her food and let her fend for herself. By the time we showed up she would have food all over herself and on one occasion she had spilled hot coffee on herself trying to get sip. We in turn were there everyday for every meal to make sure she was fed and her needs were being met. It was our intent to have her at Brookdale in the long term care section but that ended due to the care she was receiving. With the exception of two nurses, (I will not name them so their identity is protected ) but I do have their names, the other nursing staff was not qualified to care for someone like my mom with such extensive needs. The staff did not check on my mom except for when meds were given or if it was a day that her wound care needed to be done. What would have happened if we had not been on site every single day.?? I had several more issues but GOOGLE has limited the amount of text I can write. I think you get the idea of the care your loved one will receive at Brookdale Greenwood Village. I did make formal complaints with her insurance carrier, Humana, and with Medicare. In closing, if your loved one does not need any assistance with eating or drinking and can use the bathroom facilities without assistance then this might be a place for you, but if you want quality, qualified nursing care, and staff that will care for your loved one like they should be cared for, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THEM TO BROOKDALE.

My girlfriend of over 25 years is at Brookdale Greenwood Village for rehabilitation and care. She has developed some cognitive issues and therefore she has been refusing to allow them to bathe her. The staff allowed me to stay with her while they bathed her so that I could talk with her and keep her calm. I so appreciate their professionalism and kindness.

I visited a friend who was in rehab. He was doing well and is happy with his care. The staff, especially the the receptionist was excellent. Very helpful and kind.
