Overview
Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's or dementia requires a gentle, patient touch and compassionate support. At Brookdale East Mesa, we have a trained care staff ready to help and a research-backed memory care program that focuses on strengthening existing skills, preserving a sense of identity, and promoting feelings of purpose and belonging. Our campus is located in Mesa, Arizona, just a short drive from medical centers, pharmacies, and restaurants. While there's a lot to do nearby, our residents know that all the fun happens right here on campus.
At Brookdale, we strongly believe that fun and excitement shouldn't stop once retirement begins. Instead, retirement should be spent living your life to the fullest. That's why we plan a robust activities calendar for our residents, in addition to our structured daily path of engagement that focuses on strengthening current skills. Some of the fun activities your loved one can choose to participate in are:
-
Chair yoga
-
Karaoke
-
Comedy hour
-
Movie matinees
-
Walking club
-
Tea parties
-
Ice cream socials
-
Creative art classes
Your loved one can also take advantage of our many on-site amenities, like our gardening greenhouse, fully-stocked library, game room, and secure courtyard garden.
Before move-in day, residents can choose their apartment. We have a few floor plan options to choose from, each designed with a private bathroom with a step-in shower and safety handrails. Each pet-friendly apartment also has windows for plenty of natural light and window coverings.
Daily tasks like housekeeping and laundry are taken care of, and your loved one will also be able to indulge in restaurant-style dining. The menu changes daily with several healthy, delicious chef-prepared meals like roast pork loin, Italian meatloaf, and blackened tilapia.
Our care staff is also there to provide gentle reminders and support with things like dressing, grooming, medication management, moving around campus, and dining assistance. A specialized care plan will be created for your loved one based on their needs. And because we understand just how important safety and peace of mind are, we have care staff available on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency.

It’s taking me several years to find the right place for my mother who has dementia. Brookdale East Mesa is working out perfectly. The staff is very attentive and I feel very comfortable knowing my mother is being well taken care of. Travis the Executive Director, is doing an outstanding job running this facility.

We just moved my 87 year old mother here- I have so many positive things to say about Brookdale East. The staff is very caring. The facility is lovely and smells clean- it's tastefully decorated and the grounds are nicely kept. There are 4 separate "neighborhoods" (that connect together if residents want to stroll around) and in each small neighborhood the residents eat dinner together like a family in a smaller dining room. They give mom her space; just enough care to still feel independent & in control of what she wants. They don't force anything on her that she doesn't want to do and we appreciate that cuz she's feisty lol. Also I'd like to add that despite the nursing shortage going on across the country right now, Brookdale East Mesa appears to be fully staffed at this time which is impressive.

I am a friend of a resident in sea side #50 for years. I am going every day feeding him lunch, while his wife is away on vacation. While I was there today 7/18, at the noon meal, I was very impressed by CG, Sharon. (I did not get her last name.) Sharon followed all the protocols that BKD put in place years ago. 1-She had the wet warm cloths for each resident to wash their hands. If they couldn't, then she assisted them. 2- she stayed in the dining room the entire time they were eating, to monitor for chocking and/or assisted them. 3- She wore gloves and changed them as needed when soiled or between residents. 4- she kept the radio volume down so she heard it and and no one heard the often screeching radios throughout the dining room. If she needed to reply, she stepped out to the edge of the room to talk for a couple seconds. 5- she served everyone at a table, before she took meals to another table. 6 - she monitored all residents glasses and refilled them as needed. 7- she was cheerful, kind, helpful and attempted to talk to all of them, including any family present. 8- she tried very hard to keep a noisy dining experience casual and quiet and restaurant style. Sharon goes above and beyond as a CG and her elegance showed through today, and I am sure it's every day she works. I am since retired, but I had learned all the dining protocols when I worked for BKD for nearly a decade. So I am really impressed with Sharon!! Thank you Sharon for a job well done!!

I love Brookdale East Mesa. The caregivers on Seaside are amazing. The Med Tech's are great as well and are so caring with the residents. The activities workers are so friendly and whenever I'm there, they include me everytime. The front office ladies are so friendly too. The whole group works together as a team and are the best.
