Overview
Retirement should be filled with fun activities, fulfilling passion projects, and plenty of laughter with friends. Here at Brookdale Durham, that's exactly what life looks like. Our assisted living and memory care campus is located in Durham, North Carolina, with convenient access to shopping centers, restaurants, and local attractions like Duke Chapel and Eno River State Park. The great thing about our community, though, is that you never have to venture far to find something interesting to do.
You'll find lots of great on-site amenities at every turn, like our fully-stocked library, courtyard garden, and salon. Our community also plans a robust events calendar, where you can look forward to activities like:
-
Group fitness classes
-
Tabletop game competitions
-
Garden and Grow club
-
Crochet club
-
Group sing-alongs
When it's time to recharge at the end of the day, you'll have your very own apartment you can call home. Residents have a few apartment floor plan options to choose from—each designed with a private bathroom, spacious closets, and windows for an abundance of natural light. Best of all, our community is pet-friendly! We know it wouldn't feel like home sweet home without your four-legged best friend.
When it comes to daily responsibilities like cleaning and cooking, you can leave that to us. We provide housekeeping and restaurant-style dining with a rotating menu of delicious chef-prepared meals. Choose between Italian baked salmon, roast pork loin, or a turkey burger one day, and between braised pork chops with gravy, peppered roast beef, or chicken in white wine and tarragon the next. Life truly feels like a vacation here at Brookdale.
When it comes to care, we offer two levels: assisted living and memory care. Assisted living is best suited for seniors who live a fairly independent lifestyle but could use a helping hand with little things, like dressing, transportation coordination, and medication management.
For seniors with Alzheimer's or dementia, our memory care program offers a structured daily path of engagement, gentle reminders, and a deeper level of support. Our care staff is here to help with tasks like medication administration, getting around campus, and dining assistance when needed.
And of course, we understand how important safety and peace of mind are. That's why we have a 24-hour security system and staff on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency.

From the moment I stepped in, I could feel the warmth of this community. The "Beautiful" courtyard, lively finch enclosure, and peaceful fish tanks created such a welcoming atmosphere. The common spaces were thoughtfully designed, and I was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking—something you don’t always find! But what truly stood out was the staff. They weren’t just present; they were engaged, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care. It’s clear this is a place where people feel at home. My visit left a lasting impression, and I’m so grateful for the experience!

We recently toured Brookdale Durham, and from the first conversation, we felt genuinely welcomed. As a Jewish family, we were pleasantly surprised (and deeply appreciative) when he showed us that they offer Shabbat services right on site. It’s not something we expected, but it really made us feel seen. 🕯️ The staff are kind and attentive, and there’s a calm, comfortable energy throughout the community. It’s clear they care about creating a space that respects different backgrounds and traditions. Brookdale feels like a place where our loved one can thrive—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too. ❤️
