Durham Regent

We recently helped my father move into, The Holiday Durham Regent, and our experience has been excellent. The staff provide friendly, responsive, and supportive assistance. The facility is always clean, bright, and cheerful. My father is especially pleased with the three delicious meals served daily. There are also plenty of fun activities and opportunities for residents to connect. We couldn’t be more pleased!

I had the opportunity to visit my aunt at Durham Regent and was truly impressed by the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The residents were friendly and appeared genuinely happy, which made the experience even more reassuring. I feel confident and grateful that our family chose such a wonderful place for her.

Staff here is wonderful - hard-working, friendly and fun to be with! Food is decent & I love not having to cook! Residents are friendly & welcoming and try to look out for one another. Price is reasonable. However Corporate doesn’t seem to understand what encourages a community of Senior Citizens. Just found out the owner wants all our puzzles taken away. Sitting in the activity area and working on a puzzle is my way of engaging with others and de-stressing. Since I moved here there have always been three or four puzzles in progress on tables for people to join in solving, and now they’re all gone! Am told a lot of the books are going as well! These two things are what attracted me, and I constantly see residents grabbing a book from our library. I would think when touring prospective clients, Corporate would want evidence that there are activities going on and residents are involved. My husband saw the basketball game and mini ping pong table and was sold. Now those items have to be put away out of sight for some reason. I walk down the hallway and enjoy the different door decorations, and now understand they are no longer allowed. That is unfortunate for a neighbor who depends on her door wreath to help her remember which apartment is hers, not to mention making the residents feel we can’t enjoy our own home by putting a decoration on the door. In light of these new, restrictive and unwelcoming-feeling orders handed down from our corporate headquarters Atria, I hesitate to recommend the Holiday Durham Regent to friends. If Atria could work on the problems, like installing a second elevator to help relieve the 30 minute wait to get to the third floor dining hall at meal times, or find a way to hire housekeepers & food servers separately in order to decrease their workload, or think about replacing the dingy carpet in the hallways to help our building look more inviting, instead of taking away some of the things the residents enjoy, the Durham Regent would easily get 5 stars!

I would love to share with everyone how much better my life is since moving into DURHAM REGENT ASSISTED LIVING!!!! From the salesperson to the phenomenal manager, the Activities Director, the hospitality staff and beyond make life so incredible. The rooms are clean, well maintained and you will never want for anything. They have housekeeping 1 day / week which even includes bed linens and making your bed. Vacuuming, deep cleaning!! I have been critically sick and the entire staff has been ready, willing and able to lend any help they can. I can’t begin to tell you what an incredible blessing the entire staff….all inclusive….has been to me from day one. The residents have so many activities each day and the friends I have made are incredible. You are never alone unless you choose to be. If you are not well, you will, incredibly, have your meals brought to your room. I guess my point is that if you or a loved one are looking for an absolutely perfect place to call home, Durham Regent is waiting here with your new Keys to health and happiness! Don’t wait to begin the best of life! It’s right here!!
