In my experience, Braemar is not the organization to entrust with a family member who has dementia. They did not do a social history until after we moved loved one into the facility - this we found out was bad practice. They decided to put loved one in highest level of care in assisted living even though we mentioned memory care might be better. Then they acted surprised by the level of dementia and behavior and even accused family of hiding things even though this was all new to everyone, so disrespectful and zero empathy. Loved one had never left home before but symptoms were getting much worse - sundowning especially- which we of course described - many friends and family in healthcare industry were shocked that the employees of Braemar spoke of loved one in such a disrespectful manner as if this was a personality flaw and not a disease and most of all, not understanding the trauma of being moved and dementia worsening with new environment. And they continued to resist moving to memory care, sent to ER instead. It very much seemed that once they had the money all kindness went out the window. The only person who acted with some empathy was Linda, even though no one seemed like they had the expertise to deal with dementia.

Moving a loved one to an assisted living facility is never an easy decision, the family was naturally concerned about how the transition from Cape Cod to New York would go for dad. However, thanks to Braemar Living, the process was incredibly smooth and reassuring. From the moment dad arrived, the staff welcomed him with open arms, making him feel comfortable and truly at home. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care have exceeded our expectations, and it is clear that they prioritize the well-being and happiness of their residents. Seeing dad settle in so quickly has been a great relief for our family and we couldn’t be more grateful to the team at Braemar. They have created a wonderful, supportive environment that has made all the difference in this transition. Thank you for making this move such a positive experience for all of us!

PLEASE! Do Not fall for the aesthetics! Although a very beautiful place, my main concern for my mother is WELLNESS. As a former nurse, I want whoever is overlooking my mothers health to be professional and kind, the lead nurse is none of the above Meeting the lead nurse was a pleasure, but as time went on it was clear that they only are working for money and not because they love nursing, so many occasions upon asking about my moms appointments or follow up questions the lead nurse was extremely rude & brushed me off on more than 1 occasion. What broke the camels back was overhearing the same nurse speak ill on my mothers dementia.. HORRIFIC!!! the warm welcome went away and so is our family’s business!

Dear Daniel and Jillian, I just wanted to thank you for helping my Mom and me through this transition. These last years have been very stressful with worry over my Moms wellbeing. Now, my mind is at ease as I am confident thanks to you and all the wonderful staff me and Mom have met over these last few days that my mom is in good hands. Knowing she will be in a safe and clean environment, eating healthy, getting her medications and experiencing the social opportunities you offer through the activities means the world to me. As a nurse I’ve been in a lot of senior care centers and your facility is bright and beautiful unlike any other. Thank you!
