Azura Memory Care in Fox Point

"Azura is the gold standard for memory care and assisted living that all other organizations should try to emulate and follow. They most importantly meet their residents where they are. They have a great knack of understanding how Alzheimer's and dementia related illnesses move at a different pace for each resident. And yet they make the residents feel very comfortable participating in so many different activities at whatever level they are able to participate. The attention to detail in the building layouts are perfect. At Fox Point where my dad was, each separate pod you feel like you are part of a small home, part of a family; and yet the residents are free to move about into the beautiful larger areas, like the library/cafe area, where numerous larger activities occur, as well as visiting musical performances with the grand piano that is in that area. Our favorite spot and my dad's favorite spot was the outside verandah. If the weather was good enough, we were out on the verandah every visit. My dad always loved being outside and very much enjoyed that. The meals are second to none. Anything and everything for breakfast, meals of lunch and dinner, including pork chops, chicken piccata, crab cakes, and my dad's favorite shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta. His appetite actually increased upon moving there. But lastly, its the genuine, heartfelt care of the staff. We certainly got very close with the staff of the Nohl House in Fox Point, as well as the nursing staff. They took tremendous care of my dad, he appreciated it and we appreciated it. We truly felt like family there. I have no problem recommending Azura to anyone. They are a class act." David Langemak

When faced with the difficult decision to put my loved one into care due to his rapidly progressing Frontal temporal dementia, it was the staff at Azura that was an answer to my prayers. At only 58 years old, he was not the typical “dementia” resident. He was challenging, everyday. The entire team at Azura helped in his care and made a conscious effort to give him the best quality of life possible. The facility is beautiful and well kept, but it was the time and effort put into my loved ones care that shined. I am forever grateful for the love he was shown as this staff of strangers became like family to him in the 8 months he was there. Azura has a fantastic program and tailored plan of care to help each residents’ needs, and they became experts in handling my loved ones challenges that changed daily. They took a chance on taking on my loved ones unique case and I’m so happy they did. I’m not confident any other team could’ve handled him with such positive support and guidance that he deserved. When your loved one's situation changes abruptly, it's comforting to have resources you already trust. Azura was that resource for us and we are grateful. A transition that could have been nightmarish has instead been uplifting.

Thank you to the Fox Point caregivers, nursing staff and dementia specialists for the care and love shared with my dad during his time at Azura. The "house" structure makes it feel more like a home, especially important during these stressful transitions for the resident and family. The staff also communicated well and heard me when needing to review care. The Dreams program was so special - a life long Cubs fan, Azura helped us celebrate that on Father's Day. Nothing is perfect and each resident has a unique situations, but I am so glad my dad was comfortable and safe during his time at Azura.
