I really enjoyed my recent visit to American House Carpenter. Its convenient location along Carpenter Rd. off US-23 was easy to get to. The community itself offers spacious 1 and 2 bedroom units. They offer studios too if you’re looking for one! I would recommend stopping and checking it out if needing senior living for yourself or a loved one.

American House ,Executive Director Teri Thornton and staff are very helpful in responding to questions and concerns. Strengths of American House senior living are community dining with optional in apartment meal delivery; community programs, live music performances, morning exercise classes, mindfulness quizes plus resident choice of evening card games in lobby or library. Mental and physical wellbeing is encouraged to get residents out of apartments to socialize. The one weakness l have observed is limited meal chices for vegetarian, vegan and plant based foods. I earned a Food for Life for Diabetes certificate in Plant Based Food from 4 classes taught by a pcrm.org instructor. I believe instead of 2 choices of meat dishes offering one meat and one plant based meal choice American House could reduce possible risk of residents to diabetes complications. How many residents have diabetes? 25%, 45% or more? My grandson has diabetes, pharmacist friend had leg amputation after he retired. Why is cost of diabetic medication of $15,000 a year approaching $900,000 over 60 year life? Dr. Neal D. Barnard, author of Reversing Diabetes without Drugs, offers programs through pcrm.org. Why not send head Chef to pcrm.org training in Food for Life for Diabetes in Michigan? Chef John Rasmussen . I trained as instructor in Livivg Food for Life to prevent diabetes in mothers, youth and families. I have offered diabetes prevention classes in medical clinics, churches and schools to 473 mothers and youth in Michigan, Jamaica and Brazil. As a resident of American House Carpenter l am interested in offering Aging is not a Disease class to residents which l offered at the Ann Arbor Senior Center.

My sister's experience at American House retirement community has been nothing short of exceptional. From the moment she arrived in March, we were impressed by the professionalism of the management and staff. The renovated facilities are not only aesthetically pleasing but also meticulously maintained, providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The dining options exceed expectations, offering delicious and varied meals to suit every taste. Moreover, the staff's attentiveness to the residents' needs has truly made my sister feel valued and cared for. Overall, we couldn't be happier with her choice to live at American House; it's truly a place where she can thrive and enjoy her retirement years to the fullest. Jackie’s Family

I recently had to move my sister into an American House Assisted Living Facility. Hailey Austin - Community Relations Director & Mary Reed - Readycare Facilitator have been very supportive & informative. I feel very secure in leaving my sister in their care.
