Our family recently visited to drop off handmade Christmas cards for the residents. While there weren't many seniors out and about during our visit, we were happy to leave plenty of extra cards and treats behind so everyone could feel included. The staff member we met was busy and kept things moving quickly, but we were glad to be able to share some holiday cheer. We look forward to coming back again in the future!

Wow! We were completely blown away by the caring, attentive and fabulous staff at the Winds. It was their commitment that ensured that our Mom’s move into the Winds went as smoothly as possible. Everything has been really great so far and the Winds team is very responsive to questions. Our Mom is loving the dining options and really enjoying the range of available activities. Theresa, Nurse Chelsea, Misty, Chelsea, Ciji, Donna and to whoever else that I missed by name—thanks so much for all that you do to make the Winds such a wonderful place!

Two months ago, my aunt lost her home to a fire. The enormity of the event, her age, and circumstances, led her to decide that it made sense to transition into the next phase of her life, namely, a potential assisted living situation. We began to help her explore this option. I spoke to every facility in our region and left every phone call feeling overwhelmed and unsure. But the moment I spoke to Theresa at The Winds at Mattern Orchard in Duncansville, everything changed. For the first time, I felt I was speaking to a genuine and compassionate person who truly cared , who was also viewing my aunt as the human she is- one who had suffered great loss - and not just a potential new monthly payment to the facility. Not only did she show great care and compassion for her circumstances, but she immediately seemed to join our family "team" in finding the best option for my aunt's new endeavor. It is now hard to believe that such a blessing could have come from such a tragedy. The Winds set her up with a beautiful new life, welcomed her with open arms, and now are a new part of our family, taking care of and supporting her through this new and exciting time. We are so grateful for the wonderful accommodations and home she can now call her own, and would recommend ANYONE seeking to simplify their living in their advancing age, to seek out the beautiful and loving accommodations of The Winds at Mattern Orchard.

When our mom could no longer live on her own, the Winds was the perfect place for her. She was able to participate in all of the fun activities and events. The caring staff encouraged full participation and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff treated her like family with love and dignity especially when she was slipping away from us in her final months and days. They also welcomed our whole family into theirs. The staff is truly dedicated to their residents from the clerical/office, dining, maintenance, cleaning and loving care givers. All of these people are deserving of a big thank you, and a pay increase would be great too!
