The Quarry Reviews

There was no one at the front desk or area upon arrival, not unusual for evening, but I came before 4pm (it was dark outside). The facility was clean, uncluttered. The check-in procedure was quick, label printed. A kitchen employee training session was observed while walking to the north elevator. I hope the elevator flooring will be replaced soon! It's torn and very dirty. Very cool to see all the activities scheduled. Overall, Cogir gave a good impression.

Cogir at the Quarry is a beautiful facility. The residents here seem very happy and well cared for. The leadership team, especially the Executive Director and the Human Resources counterpart, do a fantastic job of creating a positive environment and truly operate a great team... although the marketing director had some questionable comments made I believe the team tried to be fair.

This review is for the Memory Care section of Cogir, and does not apply to Assisted Living or Retirement living sections. I'm sharing this review because I feel like many of the reviews are not hitting on the important points for someone looking for a memory care faciltiy. Having been all the way through this journey, I'll share what I've learned. If you are looking for memory care, you will have challenges, no matter where you go. It is not an easy thing for anyone involved. No facility will be 5 stars everyday, but I'm providing and overall rating from what I've seen over 2.5 years of having my mom there. When you look at a facility, including this one, the marketing team will try to appeal to you, because you are the decision maker. What really matters is what your loved one is going to experience day in, day out. The thing to look for is not how new the furniture is and the facility is (although that is a factor). The thing to look for is how the staff is interacting with the residents. Pay close attention to this. Do your tour with more than one person so you can compare notes after the visit. The most expensive places may not have the most engaged staff. How is the staff interacting? Are they happy or grumpy? Are they calling residents by their name? Do they smile? Do they treat residents with respect? Even on a tour you will see some interaction of staff and residents, and you will get a glimpse of this. These are the people who will interact with your loved one every day, pay close attention, and base your decision on that. Staff turnover is high in all memory care facilities. With a change of management and staff an entire place can change for better or worse in a short amount of time. Reviews from 4 years ago are irrelevant. Even reviews from 2 years ago may, or may not, reflect what is happening today. Our experience is that the current staff at Cogir is as good as you can hope for. They were kind, and engaged. The facilities are good, and they keep the residents engaged with activities. My mom had her own room, with privacy and a lock on the door. Overall It was a postive experience for my mom, better than what I could have provided at home. I would recommend Cogir.

Such a fun time with my five year-old great granddaughter and all the lovely people and creative games and candy. I’m 81 but if I said trick-or-treat, I would get one and a chuckle. Thank you so much.
