Halia (memory care) at the Plaza at Kaneohe has been home to my parents since 2019. My dad was one of their first residents, and then Mom joined him soon after the COVID pandemic hit Hawaii. Although staff shortages are an issue at times, this is an issue that affects the healthcare industry as a whole, so I don't feel this is entirely due to their negligence. The Halia staff is usually very responsive in addressing any issues that I've had. I recognize that it is not an easy job, so I appreciate their hard work. Aleta, the activities director, deserves particular recognition. She has such an infectious personality and is instrumental in creating and organizing fun and engaging activities. Aleta sometimes sends me photos of Mom enjoying herself, dancing, singing, or just goofing around. ..this really makes my day, knowing that Mom is having fun and not just sitting around. Mom is 90 and has dementia, but she still loves to sing, play games, and interact with others. Aleta's leadership in creating and organizing these activities is crucial in keeping the residents active, engaged, and happy. She is a gem and a great asset to the Plaza. Thank you, Aleta! Kudos also to Fred, who not only drives the Plaza bus, but is also their in-house entertainer. He sings and plays his guitar/ukulele for the residents which brings them such joy, especially Mom. Mom is from Japan so Fred will play and sing Japanese songs for her, which she loves so much. Fred is another gem at the Plaza who truly loves and cares for the residents. Aside from the wonderful staff, the Plaza in Kaneohe is such a beautiful facility. Another important factor in my selecting this place is that they keep this place very clean. There is always a fresh floral scent in the air when you walk in...it feels more like a resort. I've visited 5 other facilities prior to choosing this location and I have never regretting my choice since.

I visited February 20, 2021 thru March 14, 2021 my mother. I visited everyday to every other day both mornings and afternoons. I witnessed excellent care, compassion, empathy and humor from all staff members to my mother. Mom has been at this facility since opening and has been given the utmost Care from all staff members. My Mom is 92 y.o. And joins in daily exercise, arts & crafts, bingo, movies, excursions and enjoys the pleasantry of everyone. They have excursions and activities to keep residents entertained. This facility is extremely clean. The staff has been accommodating especially with our out of town family visits. I highly recommend this senior living facility. I would love to live there myself. Mahalo to the Plaza staff for a job well done and especially during Covid!

Not an appropriate place for someone who is not fully functional and 100% independent. There isn’t enough staffing to adequately care for all residents needing care and attention from the staff. See the Yelp reviews of the plaza at kaneohe. There’s a really good review from a Cookie C. I feel for that person’s family and can totally relate.

The caregivers were kind and attemtive but the administrative staff has been just awful. From transferring my mother to a different section of the facility without consulting me and charging far more than the price sheet I had to not giving my mother the 40+ letters I sent her during the pandemic to try to minimize her feelings of isolation, I found their care unconscionable. I moved my mother back home August 31. She died September 29. I am so grateful to God.I got her out of there.
