The Piper

We recently moved our mom into The Piper Facility’s memory care unit, and I can’t say enough good things about the entire experience. From the very first call to tour the facility, the staff made what could have been an incredibly stressful and emotional process feel supported and manageable. They walked us through every step with patience, compassion, and professionalism—answering all our questions, helping with paperwork, and even offering guidance on how to talk to Mom about the transition. The care and attention didn’t stop once she moved in. The team has been there for our family every step of the way as we navigate these changes. Whether it’s a quick phone call or an in-person conversation, someone is always available to listen, offer support, and provide thoughtful advice. They truly treat the residents and their families like their own. The facility itself is beautiful—bright, clean, and welcoming, with comfortable spaces that feel like home rather than an institution. What stands out most are the daily activities. There’s a wonderful variety to choose from, and the staff does such a great job encouraging participation while respecting each resident’s preferences and energy levels. Mom has already joined several group activities and seems to be enjoying the music, crafts, and social time. We are so grateful to have found such a caring place for our mom. The Piper Facility has exceeded every expectation, and we highly recommend it to any family looking for quality memory care. Thank you to the entire team for your kindness and dedication!

I had the privilege of presenting to the staff and residents about my journey as a caregiver with my Mom. Thank you to the staff + residents for such a warm, heartfelt reception. I will say it again, your vibe is different and witnessing the interaction, love and care between the residents was humbling. It is SO very obvious, you love what you do. My heart and soul were filled with joy last night!!! Thank you for ALL you do!

Our mom recently needed to move into a Memory Care Facility. Two different friends recommended The Piper since she wanted to stay in Wyandotte County, where she had lived all of her life. A Place for Mom also recommended The Piper and quickly helped me set up a meeting with staff on their day off. My brother and I met with them and the best description I can give is that WE felt like WE had come HOME! The administration and support staff are kind and knowledgeable and dedicated! They call or text ME to check up on me! They keep us very informed and updated and as involved as we want to be. Our mom was very fearful of going to a “Nursing Home.” The Piper is NOT a “Nursing Home”. It is a Community! You enter into a beautiful common area with a grand piano, a living room and a gathering area. Beyond that is a conference/community room where all kinds of fun activities continually take place. Whether going left or right or up the elevator, you go into a Neighborhood named after local Kansas City neighborhoods, not into a “wing”. From there you can go into an apartment or follow the hall into the community room, living room, sun room or dining room, or even onto the patio where you’ll see beautiful flowers your loved one might have just planted by the pergola or walking path. I stayed with my mom the first few nights and was provided everything I needed, including food. She had no problem adjusting and absolutely loves it here! She feels welcome, well taken care of and safe, and enjoys all of the activities as well as going on the outings with her new friends. We feel the price is reasonable, as well. So many other places divide the rent, meals, care, medical care, etc up into different costs and you don’t really realize you are actually paying the same amount. Thank you to Skyye, Ashley, Kristie, Raven, and so many others I haven’t named, who take the time to make sure our mom is well taken care of and happy. I don’t worry about her every minute, every day, anymore! THAT is priceless!

The Piper is a clean, safe and extremely well run assisted living facility. The staff is immediately responsive to any issues that may arise. The overall attitude of everyone that I have dealt with has been positive and accommodating.
