My father lived in this facility for nine months, during which he fell 13 times, despite my clear and early disclosure that he had Parkinson's dementia. Rather than revising his care or offering support, the facility ultimately evicted him after his final fall, labeling him a "fall risk"--a fact they had known since day one. They violated legal eviction procedures by failing to give a 30-day notice, and informed me while I was out of the country, leaving my father in the hospital and me scrambling to find a new place for him. The lack of empathy during a vulnerable time was inexcusable. To make matters worse, the facility said the only way they would allow him back was if I paid for a private 24/7 nurse--an expense they knew was unrealistic. This was clearly a tactic to push him out while appearing cooperative on paper. Not sure if Aireen T. is still the director but she is not responsive, professional, caring, or compassionate at all. I had to involve Ombudsman to get responses from her on everything. There are also serious safety and staffing concerns. During a power outage in the heat of summer 2024, the facility had no backup generator. We overheard firefighters asking staff where the generator was, and staff admitted there wasn't one. During this incident a female resident was stuck in the elevator for literally hours on a hot summer day!! It was horrifying. Others, like the woman across from my father's room, were left in the dark yelling "hello, is anybody there?" My family and I went to her to calm her down ourselves as no staff member checked on her or other residents to reassure them during this electricity outage. They are clearly understaffed and many of the caregivers are not certified CNAs, and it shows. Staff routinely defer to residents' refusals for essential care, and hygiene, rather than providing informed, proactive support for those with cognitive conditions. Many times I showed up and I could smell he hadn't showered. When I asked staff why they would say that he refused so they didn't do it. Medication for my father was not consistently dosed at a consistent time which was also a huge problem. My father also experienced racism from two other residents, and when I raised this with the Director Aireen, they brushed it off--blaming the behavior on health issues such as UTI and did nothing to protect or acknowledge the harm done to my father. Aireen and executive management did nothing to soothe our concerns. This facility is not safe, not equipped, and not compassionate. I would not trust them with any loved one under any circumstances.

The Parkview has been a blessing for our entire family. When my Dad passed away last March, it became apparent that my Mom's ability to live independently had changed. We toured a number of Assisted Living facilities. From our initial tour of The Parkview, both my Mom and I felt like we found the right home. The decor in the lobby and living areas was warm and inviting, the administrative staff was great in communicating all the important financial and care elements that I found very confusing at other facilities. My Mom's experience at The Parkview has been fantastic. She gets the care and attention she needs from caregivers and MedTechs, she enjoys the meals, and there are daily activities that keep her engaged and socially active. The Parkview staff is always friendly when I visit, and share stories about what my Mom is up to when I'm not there. For me, I get a lot of comfort from knowing that when I leave from my visit, my Mom will be comfortable and cared for.

My aunt and uncle (both 90+ years young) have been living at The Parkview Assisted Living in Pleasanton for over 2 years and while acknowledging that no place is without its challenges, our overall impression of The Parkview is extremely positive. After living in their own home for over 60 years, The Parkview helped to make this huge transition for our loved ones to an 'assisted living' place as smooth as possible and brought comfort and ease to our family during a time when it was most needed. Over the years we are pleased to report that the staff at The Parkview have consistently shown a high level of professionalism, from the very friendly front desk staff, to the med-techs, the dining room staff, the office staff, the maintenance workers, the housekeepers, etc. It’s been quite reassuring to see the staff genuinely care for the residents, making the place feel more like a very clean and warm, 'cared for' community. Not to mention the beautiful park, right next door - a perfect and safe place for our loved ones to enjoy a daily walk outdoors if they so choose. The Parkview also continuously seeks ways to enhance the living experiences with many optional scheduled activities. They bring in speakers or throw tea parties and such, however, we have noticed that their favorite activities tend to center around musical performances. Some musicians are a huge hit with the residents. Additionally, the cost of The Parkview has been reasonable and competitive (compared with other assisted living facilities) which is an important consideration for many families. For us, one of the standout benefits of choosing The Parkview is the availability of Pine Park Health Services. This feature significantly simplifies healthcare for residents (if they are able to opt in) by offering routine medical checkups and lab work without the need to leave the comfort of their own room. We still take them to their specialized doctor appointments but this convenience with their routine medical care not only saves time but also minimizes the stress associated with every trip 'out of the facility', a factor we’ve greatly appreciated. Furthermore, The Parkview went above and beyond during a special family occasion. For a milestone birthday celebration, they enabled us to host a wonderful gathering with around 20 family members. The Parkview provided a spacious and nicely appointed room free of charge, accommodating our large group comfortably and allowing us to enjoy music and festivities together. This gesture showcased their exceptional commitment to fostering community and family connections, making the event especially memorable for everyone involved. In summary, our experience with The Parkview has been outstanding. We’re thankful for the peace of mind and quality of care our loved ones are receiving, making it a commendable choice for those in search of assisted living options.

Patrick gave me a full tour of the facility; he was friendly and welcomed any questions following the tour. The courtyard and other gathering spaces were clean, well-organized, attractive. The rooms had comfortable floor-plans with large windows. Amenities, costs were well explained. Calendar of daily events are posted. Menus looked good.
