Our experience was less than stellar at Legacy. In fact it was down right shameful the lack of care that my Mom got. At level 3 and level 4 care, we were lucky to get her phone and hearing aids plugged in, much less get her hair combed or hearing aids put in. In fact, they ended up losing both hearing aids within the first several months. We asked for more care with dressing and showering and neither happened, even though they happily immediately increased our rates. Thank goodness for getting extra services through empower me as they were the ones to put her hearing aids in, make sure she was dressed properly and hair brushed. When we asked for more help, the staff at Legacy told us we had to move to memory care as they could not provide the proper care for my mother. That is not why people go into memory care! My mother was still calling for help with her button and was not a flight risk! One time, when my mother fell, she called repeatedly for help. It took 15 minutes for someone to come and then they argued about why it took so long instead of helping her up. They had sent someone across the hall to another person with the same name. As a matter of fact, my mother's packages also were delivered to this person too. This facility is not staffed to take care of people needing more than minimal care and has a bad reputation for neglecting residents with dementia. My mother never got regular showers and in fact went weeks without. No one cared. The nurse and facility director just told us what we wanted to hear and nothing was done to help my mother. She had a terrible fall there that was totally preventable which caused a major decline in her health and resulted in hospitalization and a very LONG rehab. After learning that this facility has a terrible reputation from many different healthcare professionals, we moved to another facility immediately after she was hospitalized and in rehab. DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE IN THIS FACILITY, ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE DEMENTIA! THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND DO NOT CARE! THEY ARE ONLY IN IT FOR THE $$$$.

The entire Legacy Staff have been extremely friendly and helpful. The Heath and Wellness Director has spent additional time to help my mother rebound from rehab. I greatly appreciate that. I have met a number of the Legacy Staff and they are all top notch people. The Legacy Staff truly care about the residents.

The Legacy at South Plains was our last visit when trying to find a place for mom. They were courteous and really cared about us being there and helping. They followed up and every employee I talked to was courteous. Sadly, mom passed before we could use their services, but they are definitely worth a look. I would not hesitate to allow them to take care of my elders. Quality of life and compassionate care is a huge mantra here.
