Overview
2015-2025: Celebrating a Decade of Excellence! At The Kensington Sierra Madre, our promise to love and care for your family as we do our own is at the heart of what we do. We are an assisted living and memory care residence open to the San Gabriel Valley in the heart of Sierra Madre. Our community is the realization of a vision of passionate leaders in the senior living industry. This industrious group sought to develop a community that takes the assisted living model of care to a higher level in an environment of comfortable elegance, staffed by loving professionals. They have accomplished just that.
The Kensington is designed to be home for seniors who are looking for assisted living and memory care services. We believe the comfort of familiarity is precious, so our enhanced program enables us to offer care beyond what the traditional assisted living community can deliver. We offer a full spectrum of clinical support, including 24/7 licensed nurses on-site and end-of-life care, and no resident needs to move out if assisted living health care needs change or increase. From our heart to yours, we invite you to join the family.

I recently brought an international group of 40 occupational therapy students (from 19 countries) to the Kensington, and I cannot say enough good things about our experience. One thing that stood out to all of us was the standard of love and care shown to everyone (community members and visitors alike) by the Kensington team. It was clear that no one was there to just 'do their job' but were genuinely giving of themselves ... real person-to-real-person. Our OT student group observed that this can only happen when the team itself feels valued, cared for, empowered, and appreciated. We've been lucky to visit the Kensington many times over the years, and each time we've come away with this impression of a community of love, care, and connection. Here is a photo of 5 of our occupational therapy students sharing about their countries (Singapore, Jordan, and South Korea) during our visit last week.

When we arrived at the Kensington and those beautiful double doors opened to us, we were stunned to find, not just several administrators there to welcome us, but to see the lobby filled with community members, smiling, clapping—all welcoming John home! Our eyes and hearts filled up quickly to finally find the home for which we had been searching. Then, the entire day demonstrated what we had been told—by you and even chance encounters with other resident family members—That though the amenities (e.g., gorgeous, well-maintained facility; range of engaging daily activities, both within and beyond the Kensington; restaurant-like dining with delicious, beautifully served meals; spacious suites, designed to be supportive of residents)—though these and all amenities are second-to-none, it is the quality of the caregiving that leaves us breathless. John's personal assistant who helped him acclimate, and the nurses who worked with both of us on any medication clarification or related needs, as well as other staff persons, keeping things ship-shape, while extending a smile and a "hello" or "welcome," showed us in real time what The Kensington's brand of caregiving is. So from the lobby welcome to the gorgeous charcuterie board to the delicious lunch, to happy hour and the live jazz ensemble and finally dinner—the whole day created the perfect welcome home. ****** It's been five months now, since that wonderful initial welcome; and I can tell you that the Kensington has continued to exceed expectations. As you might expect, getting a new resident fully settled in—tweaking and tailoring the support to his particular needs—takes a minute: good listening and communicating, and extra effort. In this, too, the entire Kensington community—to a person—has been exceptional. As a result, John has blossomed into radiant health—physical, mental, social, spiritual. To be sure, he is still challenged with PD, but those challenges no longer limit his access to and enjoyment of life. He loves his new community—and so do I. The Kensington's seamless, loving support has given John and me the chance to rediscover and enjoy "Us"—and life—again. See you down the road. We hope to be part of your own "Welcome Home!"

I cannot say enough about the Kensington Sierra Madre. Every single person in this community treats you like family. So caring, beautiful amenities, fantastic engaging activities. The best part is, my Dad is so excited and full of life in his new community. He absolutely loves it and will tell everyone he knows how great it is. Thank you everyone at the Kensington. We are so grateful to have been welcomed into your home.

Our family is so glad we found the Kensington for our mom, who moved into her Kensington suite one year ago. Mom experienced a stroke in late 2024 that has made her reliant on a wheelchair and assistance for daily activities. Her loss of independence was very sudden and a difficult adjustment for her, but the Kensington's positive and caring environment has really helped her live a fuller life than if she were living at home alone with hired aides. The daily social activities, outings, and regular contact with the care staff have really improved mom's mood. Visiting her is always pleasant and hassle-free -- we can stop by whenever we want and stay for meals, or take her out for our own outings. The facility is like a giant house with lots of roommates, and the outdoor spaces are very pleasant for visits when there is nice weather. The Kensington also has lots of events for different holidays, including their big Independence Day barbecue where families are invited to a front-row seat to the annual Sierra Madre July 4th parade that goes by past the Kensington, followed up with lunch. The Kensington isn't the cheapest elder care, but the peace of mind is priceless. The staff are caring, honest, and always ready to help, and I know my mom is safe. I highly recommend considering the Kensington for your loved ones.
