I am so thankful to the entire team at The Kensington in Fort Madison. My parents moved into their apartment in January and the entire team was so compassionate and kind during this transition. The residents are friendly and welcoming and the staff makes eveyone feel like family. Renee, Hazel, Cindy, Amanda, Sarah, and the entire team are just lovely people who are passionate about their contributions to their team.

My father-in-law was a resident in the Primrose Path Memory Care unit until he passed away in early August. When we cleaned out belongings, my mother-in-law noted that $60 was missing from his wallet. After discussing this issue with the business office, Autumn informed my family and I that The Kensington "is not just going to cut you a check for $60, so..." In addition, Cindy (marketing) contacted my mother-in-law by phone, accusing myself and other family members of having been "loud and irate" (which was inaccurate). If a marketing representative had a problem with our behavior, why would she not address it with us in the moment, rather than calling my grieving mother-in-law to "tattle" on our behavior, and shut us up? Two of the family members addressing this issue are registered nurses, who know that policies and procedures for loss/theft should be publicly displayed. Furthermore, administration should possess enough compassion/ethics to demonstrate initiative when it comes to protecting residents and their families. While the staff providing direct patient care were wonderful, the business office/leadership team were less than ideal. My mother-in-law was in fact reimbursed, and supposedly the staff will receive additional education regarding how to protect residents' valuables. I want to empower the public: IF A SITUATION ARISES WHERE YOU NEED TO ADVOCATE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE, DO SO!!!!

The Kensington staff have always been friendly and caring. I have been included in many "family" type events and interacted with many of the residents and staff. I have talked with many other people who have had family members living in the Kensington and they have voiced the same feelings and reaction to how life is for their family at the Kensington. I would recommend, if your family has need of a care facility for a family member, please check out the Kensington!

My mother lived at the Kensington, first in the assisted living and later on Primrose Path. She was very happy living there. She could not have had better care. Cindy and her staff on Primrose Path were wonderful. They treated her like one of their own family. Since I lived two hours away, it was especially important. I could not have taken care of her as well as they did. I would give them a 5+ stars.
