If your family member needs memory care…STAY AWAY!! This place is the WORST!!! They don’t care about these poor vulnerable residents. The residents sit around all day in chairs doing nothing but watching repeats of Lassie. It’s a disgrace!! There is rarely stimulation or entertainment! There are rotating agency LPNs that aren’t consistent! They don’t know the residents well!! There is hardly any interaction with the residents. They feed them ,pass meds, and that’s it. Pitiful!! My mom walked in Saybrook with a strong physique and was wheeled out in an ambulance after 54 days. She declined significantly due to edema and cellulitis in her legs from sitting around all day in a chair and allowing her to sleep all night sitting up on her sofa. We would take her on weekends so we could stimulate her because we disliked the lack of activity. She was put on a diuretic ( water pill) for her legs swelling. This caused her to became dehydrated and was found lethargic in her bed!!! We were very involved in my mom’s care and our concerns and recommendations went to deaf ears!! They never followed through. Also, a careless medication error to my mom could have been very detrimental. An LPN was too lazy to refill my moms medication when it ran out so the LPN borrowed from another resident and didn’t check the dose and it was triple my mom’s dose. This could’ve killed her! During her hospitalization for dehydration no one cared to call and check on my mom’s well being after all of this!!! My mom is not the same! She walked well before all this, she is now week and is in a wheelchair! The building is beautiful but the care in UGLY!! BEWARE!!!!
