Assisted Living

A living option for seniors or individuals who require assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, or medication management while maintaining a level of independence. Assisted living facilities offer personalized care plans and social activities that promote quality of life for their residents.

Memory Care

Memory care communities offer specialized care and support for individuals dealing with memory-related conditions, such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. These facilities are equipped with trained staff and offer engaging activities designed to promote well-being while ensuring a safe living environment.

Respite Care

Respite care is short-term or temporary care. Respite care can be provided in adult day centers, in private homes via home health agencies and in senior living communities, most often assisted living or skilled nursing facilities.

It has been my experience that The Cortland Howell employees are very friendly & caring starting with the receptionists at the front door, to the Maintenance Director, to the nursing staff, the administrative employees, the culinary and the Life Enrichment Director. They each have a heart for the residents. Thank you all for taking care of our loved ones!

My mother has been there for 2 months now. As a first timer having to make a tough decision at the time I had no idea what to expect. All I can say is that I am very happy with making mom a resident here. The whole staff is phenomenal. They truly care of the residents that they are assisting. Good communication, good food with a nice variety in the menu, clean facility, variety of activities daily. Kudos to Carol and her team!

I really thought when the new company bought out Vista that things would change. Unfortunately this new company is worse than Vista!! Management and corporate do not care about these residents! Families are actually moving out because of management. Staffing is the worse! Constantly working short! Many times there are only 2 caregivers in the building with 30 residents! Many times there is only one med tech to pass meds to the entire building!

My mom resided at Cortland/ Vista Springs for33 months until her passing in Feb. 2024. The facility has a few positives. It is well maintained, and kept clean. But do not let the appearance fool you, or their promises when touring the facility for new care. It is NOT a state licensed facility, meaning they do not have to comply with state guidelines. The owners (Priority Life Care) communication skills with residents and their families are lacking immensely. Weekly they are short staffed, especially on 2nd/3rd shifts, and weekends. General managers and department heads have a very high turnover rate. The facility went through over15 general managers in my mom’s 33 month stay. As you can imagine, this creates a lack of any consistency. Meals are very subpar, lacking much protein or fresh vegetables/ fruits. If you are looking for activities, they are very limited and lacking creativity. Very little, if any, training was given to new staff, which was crucial given the high volume of employee turnover. residents rates were increased bi-annually even though they were not receiving the services they were paying for. We had high hopes for the new owners/ management company(PLC), and were sadly disappointed. These are just some of the reasons Cortland Howell has very few residents. I would highly recommend you look elsewhere!
