Sunrise of Springfield

I strongly advise against placing your loved ones in this facility. The conditions in the memory care unit are deeply concerning and raise serious questions about the quality of care being provided. Having only four care givers responsible for more than 38 residents is completely unacceptable and creates an environment where neglect is almost inevitable. No resident deserves to receive inadequate attention because the facility chooses to operate with insufficient staffing. The cleanliness of the facility is equally alarming. The building is filthy, and there is an ongoing roach infestation that management has failed to address. It is evident that maintaining a safe, clean, and dignified living environment is not a priority. To make matters worse, staff members are frequently forced to search other rooms for basic supplies, such as wipes, because management fails to keep essential items adequately stocked. The caregivers are doing the best they can under extremely difficult circumstances, but they should not be expected to provide quality care without the necessary staffing and resources. Families trust these facilities with the care of their loved ones, and this facility has failed to meet even the most basic standards of cleanliness, staffing, and resident care. Until management takes meaningful action to address these serious issues, I cannot recommend this facility to anyone.

High marks to Sunrise for excellent food. Friends and I joined a resident there for an early Thanksgiving Dinner. The turkey dinner with all of the trimmings was absolutely delicious. The staff was most welcoming and helped served dinner. Thanksgiving decorations made it a festive occasion. We have dined there other times and have always enjoyed the food. Thank you to the staff at Sunrise for a most enjoyable evening.

Ken Polk is engaging, wise and considerate. Our consultation with him helped us appreciate some assisted living (AL) aspects that we didn’t understand heretofore. If he represents all that Sunrise has to offer, I have two words: Well done!

When my sister could no longer live on her own, she moved into Sunrise. The staff welcomed her and she loved her big room with lots of windows. She needed medication management and physical therapy, and eventually went into hospice care. The care team at Sunrise took great care of her. Any concerns that any of us had were always quickly addressed.
