Sunrise at Sterling Canyon

We moved our mother to Sunrise after Pacifica closed and all residents had to move out with short notice. We were lucky to get one of the last apartments available close to my sister because Tristan was so responsive, returning her call on Sun. evening and showing her the apartment the next morning. We had to take a 1 bedroom because no studios were available, so we put her name on the waiting list. When a studio became available both Tristan and Sean went above and beyond to accommodate our family. We are very thankful that our mother lives in such a nice place with great staff and receives such excellent care. Our mom's old apartment and new apartment both have a view of the gardens, which are lovely. We are always impressed by how warm and cheerful the staff members are.

My parents have been there for 3 years and have seen a lot of changes. They liked it initially but not anymore. As full paying residents at 5-figures per month, they are not happy. The new leadership are focused on profits and not their actual care and feelings.

It is always a difficult transition to have to move a family member to an assisted living home but Sunrise has made it a wonderful experience. The room is warm and welcoming while the staff has been and continues to be extremely supportive and caring. The care takers are extremely dedicated to their residents and try to make their stay has pleasurable as possible. Anita at the front desk is always in a great mood, cheerful and such a joy--making our visits there always pleasurable. Mayra, one of the care givers, has become a dear friend to my father, something anyone would hope for the loved ones. We spend a lot of time there so its nice to feel like they are an extended family. Activities are created and seem to have a large women's following. We've suggested some be created for men's interests. The work hard on being creative with the meals and are always open to working with your special wishes. -- Sunrise has been around for awhile and you can see its wear and tear which we hope will be changed sometime in the near future/ it needs a bit of a refresher. But for those seeking comfort, kindness and security--you won't be disappointed.

My mom reports that everybody here is very very nice and very very helpful. We know this is true as we see it first hand every time we visit. She also loves her room and having her cat with her. She's made a lot of new friends and can find people to play Rummikub or walk with everyday.
