Sunrise at Bay Village

I would like to take this time to thank thank the staff who work in our memory care community. They are extraordinary. When you typically think of a memory care community, it's safe to say the newer ones come with all of the bells and whistles i.e., bright open halls, work stations, jewelry stations, walking paths, etc. Where Bay Village differs is their commitment to the residents and families they serve. The staff can be observed baking and cooking delicious meals for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or just because. Residents are just as involved in assisting or giving helpful hints o how to make it better! Staff go out of their way to create festive shirts, hats, or accessories to go with the occasion. One of my fondest memories was the salon day. Staff printed copies of real money and gave it to the residents. Residents were then taken to the "salon desk" where they could request and pay for the service they desired. This included shaving, manicures, wash and curl, massages, and makeup! I am so glad our staff feel empowered to think outside of the box when creating experiences that are meaningful, eventful, comical, and memorable. If this is the type of community your loved one needs please come and visit us. We are also expanding our memory care with eight additional beds but be forewarned, once you visit they will want to stay.

I had a wonderful opportunity to visit this facility with a dear musician who entertained the residents and staff on Friday in the “ Piano Bar” area for about one hour! The place sits in a beautiful area tucked away from all of the busyness of Annapolis. The staff was professional! The facility is simply gorgeous! During the music performance, the residents were very happy as they conversed and enjoyed the happy hour menu and beverages! I loved it!

My mom has lived at Bay Village for 6 months. It is our 4th experience with memory care so I do have a basis for comparison. The staff is very caring and compassionate. This clearly stems from the individuals as well as leadership level. Janine can flex from Exec Director to hands on 'Sr Nurse" in an instant as needed. She is very responsive and always has time to talk. My mom is challenging in some ways and the staff is always patient and caring. They treat residents with respect. The food is very appealing too - looks to be made from scratch. They have just hired a new activity leader full time- that is very key to engagement. I hope Sunrise helps to keep the caring spirit of the team. Therebis turnover in this business and it's key to have adequate staffing. I chose this facility because of Janine and her team. She knows all of the residents and pitches in when needed. You don't see the caregivers sitting at a table or in a different room playing with their cell phones all day long like you do at some other facilities! I do question the recent elimination of 2nd shift nursing.

Bay Village has been great experience for my mom and our family. We are comforted knowing Mom is in safe and well maintained facility. Care givers, nurses and rest of staff are fantastic. They attend to all needs in timely manner, and provide friendly demeanor with all activities. It starts at the top with Janine who shows care and dedication to residents, staff and families!!
