Summit Place Reviews

Our experience here was so bad we were afraid of leaving a review until we could get my grandparents out for fear of retribution on them from the leadership and staff. We were frequently shocked by the lack of care, weekly mixing of wrong prescription drugs (this went on for months), lack of staff presence, no cleaning done in the rooms, and on one occasion found out that they were literally not fed for three days straight during a quarantine (norovirus lockdown). We spent months hoping for change but were shocked by the bad attitude of leadership. Which is incredible given the prices. We moved them to a brand new facility for virtually the same. This place is old, small, dark, poorly renovated, and not taken care of for the same price. They were asked to super-heat their rooms just to keep the pipes from freezing in the winter. Before putting your family in here, I would highly suggest doing more research than necessary including calling DHEC, interviewing current residents, and checking every contract you sign closely. I am not prone to dramatic responses, but it is my opinion this place should be shut down or at the very least have its leadership completely replaced. I believe this is a medical facility that is unprepared in any capacity to properly care for the elderly.

I recently had an emergency situation occur with my Mother who lives in the AL facility at Summit Place. Since I live out of town I was not able to be there to assist getting my mother to the doctor for what did not at the time appear to be an emergency. Upon seeing the doctor however it was determined that Mom’s eyesight was at risk. By the time this was determined it was past normal operating hours and the care needed was betond the typical scope log care. The ED and line staff were all responsive to my inquiries. The ED followed up with Dr, Pharmacists and staff to do all she could to insure the care would be provided as needed. I am extremely appreciative and applaud these efforts.

The staff at Summitt Place is phenomenal! It takes a very special person to handle the needs of the elderly and especially after dementia has changed a fun and loving person into someone that is scared and confused about their surroundings. Every staff member that I have met has been very friendly and helpful. The staff I see and interact with the most is in memory care. The staff in this area is on a different level. They genuinely care and perform their duties with compassion. This team is led by a wonderfully talented, sincere, and humble leader that has few equals. I highly recommend this facility and not because of the facility, it's plenty nice, but because of the staff and they are excellent with great leadership.

The atmosphere at Summit Place is a calm, friendly, and caring one. Our family are so thankful to know our Mom is being taken care of by all the staff and caretakers there. When we could visit inside, way back when, I met alot of Mom’s friends and got to know them as well, as extended family. This past year’s challenges have been tough but the staff has gone above and beyond to try and keep activities going and the residents comfortable while kept inside safe. After visiting all the local assisted living facilities, Mom and our family feel like she made an excellent choice in Summit Place!
