This place looks great for mom or dad, when they just seem to be a bit tired and are ready for this transition. The place was absolutely spotless, very clean, staff seem very friendly. Library looked very well organized. Dining room was absolutely clean, very “home” like but with the experience of a great restaurant. Even outside is clean. Really looks like a peaceful place to just enjoy when ever you are ready to!! It’s like a hidden Eden, I live so close and didn’t even notice this piece of paradise existed for the older people we love!! Am young, but even I feel like living here. LOL.

Having dealt with multiple retirement communities by the way of three grandparents, a mother and a father, I can absolutely say this has been the worst experience by far. They constantly try to pull things over on residents. Say the rent is $3500, well they invoice the amount at $5000 and credit $1500. When renewal comes around, it goes back to $5000. They hope you don’t notice and then you have to complain just to get them to reduce it back. Clearly they hope seniors forget about it and pay the inflated amounts. Every other community has a year lease and then you go to month to month. Not here, they will pursue for the entire lease term. If you ever need a higher level of care due to an accident or cognitive decline, you are required to give a 60 day notice. You read that right, two extra months rent – they penalize seniors for declining health. Don’t believe me? Check the lease. They constantly send out passive aggressive memos advising of some new fee or regulation. Very few activities or trips. Independent residents only get one meal per day. Also, if there is anyone living above you, it is SUPER loud, very thin floors. They also charge $25 to pay by check each month. Why? You know why…they want control of your bank account. The director had no prior experience working in senior living and boy does it show. There are just so many better communities out there, don’t fall for their smoke and mirrors. I am sure this review will get removed because no one likes the truth, they just want the fluff.

I've had a wonderful experience at Story Point Assisted Living Home in Middletown. The facility is very nice and clean, with plenty of options that cater to every resident's needs, making each day engaging and comfortable. David Dunbar's excellent leadership is evident in every detail, from the warm, polite interactions with the staff to the well-organized activities that keep everyone involved. Overall, it's a truly welcoming environment that I highly recommend.

My family’s experience with Story Point was nothing short of horrible. When we first met David (the director) he reminded me of a used car salesman. I even told him my mother would have the same perception and not respond well. David laughed. I had the feeling he would tell us anything to get us to sign on the dotted line. My sister-in-law considered him a friend, and assured us it was a good option for my mother. Once my mother moved in, she was essentially out of site and out of mind at Story Point. My mother did not go to meals or participate in activities. Maybe that was on her, but we were told that they watched out for those things there and would let us know. The patient portal was a big selling point for my family, and it never materialized. Every time we picked up a phone to call there, it was an extra charge for an extra service, and that is IF we could reach anyone by phone. Not even the receptionist answered most of the time. David was always, “in a meeting,” and not available for calls. He did not return phone messages or texts. We had one meeting with David where he essentially confirmed that all the promises made to us prior to moving my mother to Story Point, were not going to happen. He also advised us that, “loving children visit their mother every day!” I cannot think of a socially acceptable adjective for such blatant passive aggressive behavior, so will move on. My brother lives in Africa and I live in Florida. Both of us have careers we cannot abandon to come to Louisville to take care of our mother. The entire burden falls on our sister, who also has a career. It is my understanding that my brother once arranged a conference call with David, over zoom, from Africa, and David simply forgot and did not appear. The purpose of taking our mother to Story Point was to provide her with a safe living environment with activities to keep her active. I have no doubt my mother would not be alive if she had stayed there.
