My parent lived at StoryPoint Birmingham from 2021–2025. There were positives: my parent loved their apartment, enjoyed some of the activities, and felt safe, which mattered to me as a family member. That said, serious issues became clear over time—especially after corporate ownership changes in 2023. Staff turnover was constant, and my parent repeatedly lost caregivers they had bonded with. Morale seemed low, which directly affected residents. The food was inconsistent, and for the past two years the elevators were frequently broken, leaving residents isolated in their rooms. Costs were excessive and increased aggressively every year—roughly $300/month annually in rent alone, plus very high care fees. When we asked for consideration due to rising costs, our care plan was changed in a way that significantly increased expenses instead. StoryPoint controls many in-house services (doctors, pharmacy, therapy, hospice), which leaves families with little recourse once a resident is too fragile to move. Most concerning were hospice delays near the end of my parent’s life, including long waits for medications meant to ease suffering. This facility offers comfort and safety for some residents, but families should go in with eyes open. The corporate focus on profit over care creates stress, instability, and extremely high costs at a vulnerable stage of life.

My in-laws lived in the StoryPoint memory care community for a full year, and during that time we consistently saw exceptional kindness, patience, and genuine compassion from every staff member. The team communicated with us regularly, created a calm and safe environment, and took the time to truly know our in-laws as people — not just as residents. One of the things we are most grateful for is that StoryPoint made it possible for them to stay together during their final year. The comfort this brought our family is something we will never forget. They were well cared for, well fed, and treated with dignity every day. We had complete peace of mind knowing they were in such capable, loving hands. I would highly recommend StoryPoint Birmingham to any family seeking thoughtful, heartfelt memory care.

Just want to give a huge shout-out to the Life Enrichment team for doing an amazing job !! Last weekend I had a patient who brought her activity calendar with her to the hospital and was begging the doctors and nurses to discharge her because she was missing her activities and wanted to get back home. 🥹 That is so incredibly sweet and truly shows the impact you all have. It was clear that the activities and sense of community were motivating her to get better. You guys absolutely rock and deserve a raise!! 👏✨

I would not recommend StoryPoint to anyone. I just spent seven months trying to get a refund from them which was due to my father after we moved him to a different assisted living. I feel the staff is not well trained and the employees in administrative positions are not detail oriented or intelligent.
