South Bay at Mount Pleasant

I've recently joined the community at South Bay at Mount Pleasant (within the last 6 months) and am truly impressed with and thankful for the excellent quality-of-life, services, and independence offered: 1. South Bay is exceptionally clean - in all places and at all hours. 2. The Staff are professional, helpful, and patient with all residents; the Director's leadership and thoughtfulness shows throughout all of them. 3. Residents are kind and respectful of one another. Of particular note, I must compliment Comfort Richardson, the Wellness Program Director. She is truly a first-class professional/physical educator. She is patient, direct, humorous, caring, and disciplined - we follow her every class! I often wonder how she manages the wellness program so effectively without becoming overburdened.

Mom's been here going on 3 years now. She has run the gambit of health issues over that time. And frankly, Mom has received continous, excellent care. From Baliessia (assisted living director) to the med techs, and the care givers; together we have grown into an extended family. Her nickname is "what what". [Long story] Anyone considering an assisted living home should feel comfort knowing their own loved ones will be safe and taken care of well. If you're looking for an active independent or assisted living community for someone you love, I cannot recommend South Bay highly enough. They have a waiting list—and after seeing it firsthand, it's easy to understand why. The community is absolutely beautiful. The spacious two-bedroom apartments, especially those that open directly onto the peaceful pond, feel more like luxury residences than assisted living. The setting is serene, meticulously maintained, and truly feels like home. The pool and amenities are nothing short of spectacular—they rival those of a five-star resort. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to provide comfort, dignity, and an exceptional quality of life. The dining is another standout. As a native Charlestonian with high expectations and a discerning palate, I can honestly say the food has exceeded every expectation. The meals are consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared—something that's incredibly important when choosing a community where your loved one will truly enjoy day-to-day life. What truly sets South Bay apart, though, is the people. The staff genuinely care and treat every resident with kindness, compassion, and respect, giving families confidence that their loved ones are in wonderful hands. A very special thank you to Alexa, who has been absolutely instrumental throughout this process. Her guidance, responsiveness, and genuine compassion made what could have been an overwhelming transition feel seamless. She goes above and beyond in every way. I also want to recognize Kellye Palmer, whose warmth, professionalism, and dedication are evident in everything she does. Together, Alexa and Kellye exemplify the caliber of people who make South Bay such an extraordinary community. Their commitment to residents and families is truly exceptional, and our family is incredibly grateful for everything they've done. If you have the opportunity to secure a spot here, don't hesitate. South Bay has earned its outstanding reputation, and it's one of the few places that truly exceeds expectations.

I am a resident of Liberty’s South Bay facility in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. I feel it is important to recognize employee actions that are over and above the required normal, good, every day traits expected of employees. Fortunately, I was the recipient of such employee behavior and wanted you to know how much this is meant to me. I have lived in South Bay for just over one year now and certainly enjoy the expertise and professionalism shown by the staff here. Also, the residents are very friendly, and I feel fortunate to have found such a great place to retire. I was married for over 33 years to a wonderful man and, as a visual reminder of our many years together, I wear his gold bracelet and necklace strung together around my neck, every day, with his gold and emerald wedding ring hanging from it. It is a lovely reminder of our years together, and I receive compliments daily on its beauty. Unfortunately, last month I woke to find the ring missing. The clasp had become open, and the ring had dropped off. Imagine my surprise to receive a phone call from our Dining Room Manager, Fanta Jones-Richards, asking me if I was missing my ring. Apparently, one of our Servers, Elsy Gomez, had found my ring under the table where I ate dinner the evening before and reported her find to Fanta. Somehow, Fanta remembered my necklace and the unusual ring and connected Elsy‘s discovery to me. Neither of them merely took the ring to the Lost-and-Found location, but personally determined to find the owner of the ring and return it. Such dedication is certainly to be recognized, and I would appreciate it if Liberty management could somehow convey to both of them how important this was to me. I have certainly passed on my thanks for their exemplary behavior, but the situation exists because the leadership at Liberty conveys this attention to resident happiness to their employees. And, it certainly shows!
