What a beautiful facility! The staff was friendly and courteous. The residents were were very friendly. Almost all of the residents wanted to visit with Ivy, my golden retriever who’s is with Project Pup. Lots of smiling faces as we spread Christmas cheer.

Responding to Pence family review- I completely disagree with your review. My daughter is on the same floor as your daughter and has been there for 9 years. She has a traumatic brain injury and is also 100% dependent on the staff to take care of her. The supervisor, nurses and CNA’s provide excellent medical & personal care for my daughter and the kids on this floor. Regarding some of your comments- Showers- The only time your daughter or mine would smell bad is if she has just come back from the hospital. Almost immediately, the nurses do a full body skin check and then they get a shower or bath. My daughter gets a shower every other day and a bed bath on the other days. I would assume they are all on the same schedule. Bye Bye Bu…- I personally take offense to this name calling. I see this supervisor care for my daughter and the rest of the kids like they are her own. She has the biggest heart, works night and day and is an excellent nurse and supervisor. All the patients on this floor are medically challenging and her care has reduced emergency trips to the hospital. She deserves a big apology. Haircut- We probably agreed to this in our admission papers. My daughter currently has short hair for medical reasons and It may apply to yours. A bad haircut is the least of my worries for my daughter. Stealing her personal items- Seriously? I’ve never lost anything from my daughter’s room You would know all this if you were ever personally there. I am there EVERY day for my daughter and I have NEVER met you. Please come visit so you can see how hard the staff works for these kids. As a mom, I can’t imagine not visiting my daughter. I’m sure your daughter would love to see you.

Care shown by receptionist started the comfortable process of locating where my friend had just been admitted. She also gave me detailed directions through the unfamiliar maze of Sabal Palms. A great beginning for a new visit to an old friend.

Unless you want your loved ones to be uncared for in their last days don’t send them here. My grandmother spent the last few weeks of her life here and we were immensely disappointed with how she was treated. She had severe dementia and could not communicate or move on her own. Sable palms left her to slowly pass into a room facing the hallway with an open door for any passing person to see. She did not have any privacy in her last few days. They were unsympathetic and insensitive to her needs. They did not bathe her or brush her teeth for days. We had to ask them to do it. They would bring her food but didn’t feed her. She was incapable of moving or taking care of herself, so I’m not sure how they thought she was going to eat. When we brought this up to them, they said we had to let them know she needed help eating. As a facility that likely deals with people in her position frequently, I would think they would know a woman in a near vegetative state would be unable to feed herself. I’m very disappointed they didn’t make a note of that when she was admitted. They put her in a room with a wholly coherent woman, having to smell and watch as my grandma slowly faded away. I can only be grateful that my grandma wasn’t coherent enough to see how she was treated. She would have hated it.
