I met Lauren and Debra during their OctoberFest event last month and it was a pleasure to join them again to co-host the Friendsgiving celebration at River Oaks Assisted Living & Memory Care. It was truly heartwarming experience. The team at River Oaks goes above and beyond to create a welcoming, family like environment for their residents. The atmosphere during the Friendsgiving was filled with joy, gratitude, and genuine connection. APAH-Carrollton is grateful for the opportunity to partner with such a caring community and look forward to many more events and memories together! I went to see my dad today on Christmas Eve and was denied access to my father. I was told that my sister instructed them not to allow me to see him. I asked if they had an order of protection or anything legal requiring them to deny me access and they said no, but that was their instructions and that I could not see him. My dad is diagnosed with dementia and Parkinson’s. My sister moved him from the assisted living he and my mom had been living for the last seven or eight years. My mom passed a year ago August and my sister who has been estranged from the family for the last four or five years, took advantage of my dad’s memory when mom passed and moved him less than a year ago. It breaks my heart that I’m not allowed to see my own father for Christmas on the word of a family member who is exploiting him. I now have to take legal action on Monday. Please do your due diligence before you trust this place with one of your family members if you care at all for their welfare.
