River Oaks

We chose River Oaks for my mom's first memory care experience. The sales team really lays it on thick, for sure. The facility itself is very nice and we have no complaints about that. Communication is an issue with them. For one of several examples, my mother fell and was taken to the emergency room. No one from River Oaks bothered to call me...I'm next door in Carrollton and they had my contact information and I was a frequent visitor. The ER is who called to notify me that they were treating my mother. She went to rehab directly from the hospital and it was weeks before anyone from River Oaks even inquired about my mother's health. She returned to River Oaks (I was very reluctant to let her go back there, but she'd already spent the $2500 community fee and had only spent about 2 weeks actually living there so it felt irresponsible to go spend even more money moving her) and she fell again shortly after her return. I do not blame them for her falls, although I do feel like they could have been more attentive to her than they were. She went back to rehab since this time she actually broke her hip. Also, she broke her hip on a Saturday and they didn't have her checked out until Sunday, which is when she was taken to the ER. At least they did communicate with me this time. She never returned to River Oaks after her hip repair. Turnover is or at least was high last summer among the nursing staff and the people who sit with the residents in the TV room. I don't recommend River Oaks for anyone's loved one who has the slightest bit of mobility issues. They're not going to get enough attention from the staff. I understand that they don't have enough staff for one-on-one attention but with multiple falls in the short amount of time my mom was there, I feel like they could have done a little better by her. Linda was the manager and ignored my multiple requests for a simple key to my mom's room. She was very difficult to get a hold of. I understand that she's no longer there, which is probably for the best. She was not a friendly or helpful person at all. My sister is financial POA, and it took months to get the bills straightened out. My mom didn't even live there any longer and she was still trying to get the bill issue fixed. Lots of good reviews on here....take mine with a grain of salt but I am a real person, not a bot.

Juan and Crystal have been amazing with my Mom and in helping us navigate the decisions we know are best for her safety. The facility is so nice and everyone has been incredibly kind and patient with our family. So thankful!

Juan is an absolute pleasure to work with. He is so friendly which makes you feel comfortable when talking with him. He is extremely knowledgeable and able to guide me through any questions or concerns I may have which is really important to me. I recommend this community and would feel confident referring anyone looking for a place for their loved one or for themselves!

I met Juan to inquire about the services provided at River Oaks for a couple looking to move. He was very professional and knowledgeable. If you are looking for a place that feels like home away from home, then definitely look at River Oaks.
