Pisgah Valley is a senior living community tucked away in Candler, North Carolina. We provide various senior living services to residents on our three campuses. Our main Pisgah Valley campus offers Independent Living, while the Pisgah Villa campus specializes in Assisted Living. I have a dear sweet friend who resides in the Pisgah Villas. I am appalled at the quality of the food that is given to these residents. The food is mostly processed foods that I wouldn't feed to my dogs. Your information shows that you have "Distinctive Dining". These residents are there because they can't prepare meals for themselves. I try to take a meal to my friend at least once a week so that she can get some nutrition. Saturday night's meal was hot dogs and chips. My husband was even amazed that they considered that a dinner meal for the residents. I know that 2 of the 23 - 24 residents have lost weight because they can't eat the food. They have to supplement at least once a day with a Boost (that they pay for personally after paying for meals they can't eat) to try to get some nutrition. I also have a friend in her early 60's who was in the Pisgah Manor for about 7 weeks for rehab earlier in this year. She had the same issue with the food. It is the same as the residents at the Pisgah Villas receives. Her friends (me included) and family took her meals the entire time! She also had horrific care during this visit. She is basically totally bedridden and would ring for help to get help to use bedpan and it would take over an hour to get help almost every time. She even had one incidence of verified CNA abuse. I have lived in the Candler area for 45 years and Pisgah Valley was well thought of when the Seventh Day Adventist owned it. Now I will not refer anyone to it. I only live about 5 miles away and am an accountant. I do get asked a lot of questions and referrals. Unfortunately I referred my friend there earlier in the year.

I have a family member that was a patient at this facility and she received excellent care. The nurses and CNA's were very thorough and everyone made her feel comfortable her entire stay
