Peninsula Del Rey

I was so glad that I looked into this place for myself. And very excited that I’m moving in a few weeks. I’m a pianist and they have a gorgeous Steinway piano that I can practice and play on. The meal that was shared with me was great. I tried two different entrées, lamb chops, and salmon, both were excellent. I was shown the entire facility, including the bistro, which is coffee and tea available at all times. The main dining room and the smaller dining room are very elegant, with nice views from the windows. People decorate their doors on the outside with welcoming Personal details. The studio I chose is nicely laid out, large for a studio I thought. And a nice view from my fourth floor balcony! I can’t wait to move in, so many nice details like included rides to the hospital. Excursions like Trader Joe’s and many more. Movies every night in several rooms. I could go on.

My friend (who is seriously considering Peninsula Del Rey) and I attended the Jazz Happy Hour on May 3, 2026. My expectations differed from reality and I was delighted but a little disappointed. First, the band was a serious jazz combo that knew their stuff. I would actually pay to see them somewhere. That was unexpected as I figured there would be some type of so-called smooth jazz and not skilled jazz musicians playing from the great American song book. Points for booking a great band! The other plus was the friendliness of the residents. When my friend struggled with her plate of appetizers and glass, they invited her to sit with them and use their table. That went a long way towards making us feel comfortable and welcome. Some small issues that could be improved: 1.) a minor issue - this was billed as a cocktail party and there was only wine and beer, no cocktails. Not a big deal, but don’t call it a cocktail party if it is a beer and wine HH. 2.) The food could be improved; the charcuterie plate was as visually appealing as it was tasty, but there was another platter of unrecognizable fried things that looked as bad as they tasted. Skip that next time. 3.) The last recommendation might be difficult with space limitations, but it would be nice to have a more “jazz club venue” with small tables that one could sit at or pull their wheelchair around. Reserve the area next to the aquarium for wheelchairs and walkers only. Overall, I would give the experience 4.5 stars, but since there is not an option for that, I rounded up.

I'm visiting senior communities in the Daly City and San Francisco area looking for a match for me. I recently visited Peninsula Del Rey for the third time. My friend and I decided to spend the day and engage in activities with the residents so I could get more of a feel for the community. We had a great time; the chair exercise class was comprehensive and superb; the lunch delicious; the Black jack card game was played with much fun and laughter (it was my first time playing the game so we were on the beginners table, and I was one of the winners); and we ended the day in a happy hour. Both the staff and the residents were warm and friendly, and helpful ensuring that we would get what we needed. During the happy hour residents approached me to congratulate me for winning at cards, and others offered their chair for me to sit or to help me carry my plate. I was impressed. The residents I talked to are satisfied and happy with the staff and the care and services they receive. We left with smiles and a feeling that we had experienced a positive and supportive community.

Our family would like to thank Peninsula Del Rey for the amazing care that the faculty provided my mom who just passed. Our father will continue to live there because he felt that he has a community and the people really care about each . Maria Alcantara, Nurse Leticia and Nurse Gina, Nora and Francia are their favorites. Overall they are all great people there. We so highly recommend this facility one hundred percent.
